Press Release:

On July 31st, beginning at 6 AM PST, World of Meh!, a site about gaming and everything related to geek culture, will be having a blogging marathon, known as a Blogathon. Started in 2008 by married couple Chris and Lindsey, World of Meh! was first used as a creative outlet. As the months went on, and it started attracting followers, it grew into something more. Now with the dynamic duo of Chris and Lindsey, as well as a supporting group of writers from across the United States, and United Kingdom, World of Meh! is poised to take another step forward in it’s growth. Recognizing this new momentum, Chris and Lindsey decided to apply it to a good cause. After last years success with Blogathon, they set their sights higher this year with One Love for Chi.

The One Love for Chi Foundation was created back in March of 2009 to help the family of Chi Cheng, bassist for Deftones, pay for his medical bills, treatments, and other things related to his condition. In 2008, Chi was in a terrible car accident where he suffered brain damage, and also put him in a coma. Due to his expensive pre-existing condition, his family can’t get insurance companies to pick him up, and the one that he did have dropped him, so everything has been out of pocket. There have been various fundraisers for him since then like eBay Auctions with signed merchandise by Deftones and other popular bands, concerts, a song put together by Fieldy of Korn, a CD by Eastern European bands, and much more.

By doing the Blogathon, World of Meh! makes nothing. Everything down to the last penny goes towards Chi and his family. Currently, they have an opportunity to transport him to a state of the art facility in New Jersey, where top neurologists will administer treatments that have shown to have an 84% success rate. If you happened to watch the MTV True Life series, the neurologists who would be working on Chi were featured in their “I Have a Traumatic Brain Injury” episode that aired on May 3rd of this year. One Love for Chi has been trying for over a month now to raise the funds needed for this opportunity, and so far they have managed to raise a little over $6,000 out of the total $500,00 they need. Both Chris and Lindsey are huge Deftones fans, and wanted to do something to help Chi and his family in some way.

For 24 hours straight, World of Meh! will be posting a new article every 30 minutes, with the hope that money can be raised for Chi. Up to and during the Blogathon, donations can be made and recorded as entries into their raffle. The raffle will be held multiple times throughout the day, and for every full dollar an individual donates, they will earn one entry into the raffle. Donations can be accumulative, so if a person donates $5.00 one week, and $10.00 the next, they earn a total of 15 entries. There is no minimum to what you can donate, so if all you can give is a dollar, you are still contributing, and can potentially win a raffle prize.

So far, popular gaming company Activision has graciously donated four complete Band Hero bundle kits, EA donated a Sims 3 prize package that includes an autographed copy of the PC game by all who helped create it, Mumbo Jumbo Games have donated PSP games, the Entertainment Consumers Association (ECA) have donated accessories for DS and PSP along with t-shirts, and more.120 Games have donated t-shirts, LEGO Harry Potter keychains, and other goodies. They also have two signed pictures by Jo Koy when he did his recent show at the Saryoan Theater in Fresno, CA, and a signed pair of clippers by local Central Valley Buzz host, Chuck Leonard, that were used to shave his head on a recent show.
