TGWK’s Free Apps of the Day (12.16.10) – iPad News Readers

Today’s selection of free apps is for iPad users. These are visually the best three apps in the App Store for catching up on your news and social media. Flipboard, Pulse, and FLUD have all been featured by the top media outlets as well as being some of the top apps of the year. Each is highly customizable and can fetch news from pretty much any network you want. Flipboard is available exclusively for the iPad while Pulse and FLUD have both and iPad and iPhone version. I personally use Pulse on my iPhone but FLUD is also very good. Flipboard I have no tried yet as I do not have an iPad yet. All three apps are free so check them out now.

Flipboard – Named Apple’s iPad App of the Year and one of TIME’s top 50 innovations of 2010, Flipboard is a fast, beautiful way to flip through the news, photos and updates your friends are sharing on Facebook, Twitter, Google Reader and Flickr. See your social media in a magazine layout that is easy to scan and fun to read. Share articles and photos, comment on posts, and like or favorite anything. Customize your Flipboard with sections created from your favorite people, lists, groups and blogs on Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and Google Reader.

Pulse News Reader – Catch up on all your news in this highly acclaimed reader – so good it was featured by Steve Jobs himself in the WWDC keynote! Pulse is a visual news reader for your iPad. It takes the news sources you follow, and instantly creates a visual mosaic of your news. Tap on an article, and you’re presented with a very clean view of the news story.

FLUD – FLUD is a modern, beautiful and personalized news ecosystem that empowers it’s users to engage and broadcast relevant content to their social networks. This is a first class app to customize content for your eyes only and “the FLUD” is a fresh way to be fed great content from the community on a minute-to-minute basis.
