Dabble is a “fast thinking” word game from publisher INI and developed by ITCH and Flash Substance. The game itself was created by inventor George Weiss. I’m going to assume that most people have never heard of this game before so I’ll explain how to play it. You are given a set up seemingly random letters on a pyramid board. Tiles are lined up in 5 rows starting from 2 tiles to 6 tiles. You must make a word with each row using the tiles that are provided. That means you have to make a 2 letter word, a 3 letter word, a 4 letter word, then 5, and then 6. Think of the game like Scrabble, but in my opinion, much harder and way more challenging.
You can only use each tile 1 time to form your words and you have to use all the tiles if you want to solve the entire board. Like Scrabble, each letter is worth a certain point and depending on what row you make a word, it’s also given a certain score multiplier. That means it’s in your best interest to use high scoring letters in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th row to get the most of of those points. You have 5 minutes to complete the whole board and when time is up, it’ll tally up your whole score and see how you did. Don’t worry about not solving the entire board though as even if you don’t finish, it’ll tally up your score still and see how you ranked.
As fun and challenging as this game is though, there is one aspect of the game I find a bit annoying and wish they would fix or add as an option. You see, you must finish the 5 minutes even if 2 minutes into the game and you find that you can’t come up with anymore words, if you press the solve button to give up, your score does not count towards the leader boards. This is a huge mistake in my opinion because not everyone will be able to completely finish the board, but they’ll still want to have their scores recorded. No one wants to wait for the time to run out. There should be a way to quit and yet still have your score posted.
Dabble is definitely a word lover’s game. If you’re not too into word games, Dabble can be quite difficult and a bit too challenging. However if you do play a lot of word games, you’ll probably love it. It’s an interesting word game in my opinion and yes, I do find it to be very challenging, but in a good way. If I happen to actually solve an entire board, it gives me a huge sense of accomplishment as I know it’s no easy feat.

Dabble is the kind of game that is as simple as it is challenging. It rewards players with quick wits, a large vocabulary, and perfect spelling.
You have to be on your toes, since the goal of the game is to spell out five separate words with just 20 letters as quickly as possible.
The trick is that the five words must be comprised of a two-letter, three-letter, four-letter, five-letter, and six-letter word.
DABBLE was awarded the 2011 Word Game of The Year by Creative Child Magazine and Dr. Toy’s 10 Best Games Award!.
