Marble Math Junior is an educational game for children ages 5-8 from Artgig Studio. This isn’t your usual math game however that throws equation after equation at you in a boring manner. Marble Math Junior takes a different approach and teaches them math as a game in a fun way that is very different from what I’ve seen others do. This game is basically presented as a math maze. You control a marble in the maze trying to meet certain conditions in order to open up the exit. For instance, it could ask you to “collect numbers to equal 4.” What you would do is move the marble around and collect the number 1 and 3 which equals 4 when added together.
There are actually a wide variety of questions that are asked and need to be solved. Here are just a few I’ve come across.
- Collect all items that equal 7.
- Collect all the circles. (Yes, basic geometry is in there too)
As you can see, Marble Math Junior doesn’t just ask standard math questions. Since this is for young children, it also helps teach them basic concepts like number recognition and shapes. The game itself is very simple to control and can be done in 1 of 2 ways. Kids can either drag the marble around with their fingers, or set it so that they can control the marble by tilting the iPhone around. Again, this is a very different kind of math game and one that makes learning math fun for children because they think they are just playing a fun game instead of actually learning math.
Marble Math Junior in my opinion is a very good math game for young children. It teaches them pretty much everything you want them to know at that age such as number recognition, basic addition and subtraction, and other early learning math skills.
Solve a variety of math problems by collecting numbers as you roll or drag your marble through a series of fun mazes for ages 5-8 (with audio questions for emerging readers)
FUN MATH PRACTICE:
Based on the Common Core Curriculum, Marble Math Junior is an engaging way for early elementary students to practice mental math. Earn new marbles and collect bonuses while reinforcing key concepts in pursuit of a high score. But watch out math whizzes! You’ll need to be focused and nimble to avoid the obstacles in your path.
WRONG ANSWER? NO PROBLEM:
Marble Math Junior gives you the option to Replay the question or Show the correct answer in a game simulation, before moving on to the next problem.
MULTIPLE USER ACCOUNTS:
Add as many custom profiles as you like. Individual game settings, including problem types by level, and scores are saved in each user profile. And the profile avatar creator is so much fun, it’s like its own game.
CUSTOMIZE FOR SPECIFIC CONCEPTS AND ABILITY:
Along with high scores and three separate difficulty levels to suit different ages and abilities, there are 16 unique marble styles to choose from. Parents and teachers can customize gameplay to concentrate on specific math concepts by selecting problem types for each player and level or just let the game roll with random problem generation for unlimited practice and play!
MARBLE MATH JUNIOR CONCEPTS INCLUDE:
• shape recognition/matching
• sequencing number values and ordinals
• addition, subtraction and multiplication to 100
• identifying fractions
• adding US coins and notes
• telling time
• completing addition equations
Additionally, early learners who may not be reading yet can tap on a problem to hear it spoken.
