PBS Kids released a new video app yesterday for the iPad which allows children to watch all their favorite clips and episodes from the PBS Kids lineup of shows. That means they’ll be able to watch The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That, Dinosaur Train, Super WHY!, Sesame Street, Wild Kratts and more. Many of the shows are broken up into 2-3 minute clips but there are some full episodes available as well.
The quality of the vids are decent and watchable and is similar to what you’d find on their website anyways. AT least now children will be able to watch them on the iPad. You can pick up PBS Kids Video for the iPad here for free in the App Store.

I haven’t posted one of these up in a few weeks so I figured what better app to feature for kids than one that has the Cat in the Hat in it. Up With a Fish! is a stacking game for children. You tilt your device to move and see how high you can stack your fish bowls. The mechanics have been dumbed down a bit for children, but for children, the balance and speed is just right in my opinion. If you and your child are fans of Dr. Seuss and the Cat in the Hat, I’d definitely recommend you pick this up while its free. You can grab Up with a Fish! here on the App Store.

We are trying something a bit different today with a new section called “Featured Free Kid’s App.” We usually have the daily three Free Apps of the Day section but they aren’t always what I would consider child friendly sometimes. So today, we started this new section to feature one free kid app that we think you might enjoy.
Today’s app comes from Onelamp Studio and it’s for their educational math game, Math Easy HD. This is an iPad only game and usually costs $4.99, but for the next couple of day the app will be free for all. Math Easy HD which includes 10 steps learning games will actually be available for free in the period of January 21st– January 23rd, both days included! Should this be your first encounter with Math Easy HD there are a few things you should know: As a perfect app for kids 6 and under, it helps your young ones to learn counting, sequencing, odd and even, adding, taking away of 0-20 and multiplication of 2-5. Toddlers will have to use their fingers to interact with the game and they will get not only appropriate encouragement but also vivid game animation as feedback.
For a full description of the game and some screenshots, please click the read more link. If you want to download the app, check out the App Store page for Math Easy HD here.
