This week’s new game release is the WP7′s rendition of Atari’s classic Pitfall! Available for $2.99 from MGS players can now swing over pools full of alligators anytime they feel the need to! This marks the third week in a row now that we have seen a new Gameroom release for the WP7, is this going to be a new trend or is there simply no other games to be released right now? While its a classic I am certainly waiting for bigger and better things to come out already for my WP7.
If jumping over dangerous animals isnt your thing then check out this week’s deal of the week with Earthworm Jim on sale for $2.99. This is actually a game I have been waiting to get! Looks like I will be making at least one purchase this week!
And one final thing worth mentioning this week, Avatar Gadgets is now FREE. Yup now you too can enjoy watching your avatar play with a lighter or help you find your way with a handy flashlight. But really the only reason to have this app is for the coin tossing!
And this week we are being graced with not just one but two new releases! The first of which is Harbor Master from MGS for the always great price of $2.99 and finally the much anticipated (for me anyway) Game Room also from MGS for $2.99! Lets not also forget the DOTW which this week is CarneyVale Showtime for $1.99.
Harbor Master is essentially Flight Control, but with boats, and well water of course. Its easy to pick up and play and quite addicting as you might have imagined and can become rather complicated and challenging in some of the later levels. The forces of nature such as water funnels and hurricanes really throw wrenches into even the best laid plans!
Game Room is the WP7 version of the same setup the Xbox consoles have had for sometime now. However the current iteration is nothing like the previous videos we saw which showed much like its counter part the ability to play multiple vintage games in an arcade like setting. This current release only features the tried and true Centipede. Hopefully future titles will be available and will all tie into the “Game Room” as they should otherwise having a bunch of separate Game Room titles really makes no sense and goes against the whole idea of the Game Room. As for this port of Centipede it certainly isn’t the best. The virtual track ball is more or less useless as its responsiveness is so lack luster you will sometimes wonder if its even working at all. Also the ability to move and shoot and the same time also seems to be missing which is essential to this game! Try it out if you wish but it certainly isn’t something I will be paying for anytime soon and I really hope they put more effort into the whole Game Room for WP7 in the future.
Looks like 2 popular games for the iPhone are heading to Windows Phone 7. Developer Eyedip today announced that both their games, Flight Doodle and Pocket Devil: Hell Yeah! will be launch apps for Windows Phone 7. According to the press release, Eyedip had a lot of support from MS so it’s great to see MS really supporting the developers out there and really wanting Windows Phone 7 to launch with a bang. Flight Doodle is a great casual game we reviewed a couple weeks back so it will be a nice addition to Windows Phone 7 platform.
The buzz today has been all about Windows Phone 7 as Microsoft held its Windows 7 Phone launch event today. The OS itself looks great but I’m really more interested in the gaming aspect of the platform itself. With that, the Xbox team released a short vid detailing the a few aspects of how Xbox Live will work on Windows Phone 7 as well as a preview of some of the upcoming games slatted for release. Some of these games may look familiar to iPhone owners.
It is great to see however that you’ll be able to basically carry your Xbox Live account anywhere with you now.
