The Dog Strikes Back: 2012 Volkswagen Game Day Commercial [Star Wars]

February 1, 2012 1 comment

If you’re wondering exactly what Volkswagen was going to do with those dogs that they featured in their teaser video for the Super Bowl 2012 commercial, look no further. If you watch the the first half of the commercial, it has absolutely nothing to do with Star Wars. The Star Wars tie in doesn’t come in until the second half and even then, it really has nothing to do with VW in general.

The Darth Vader Kid is still the better commercial but we do get a cameo from Vader himself this time.

VW is no stranger when it comes to making deals with the Dark Side of the Force. Today they’ve posted up a new teaser trailer for a new commercial that will be revealed at this year’s Super Bowl. Call me crazy but I think somehow, it has something to do with dogs. Check out the trailer above for all its furry cuteness.

Honda’s “Earth Dreams Technology” – Blue Skies for Our Children

January 11, 2012 Leave a comment

I’ve been a pretty big automotive enthusiast for as long as I can remember, particularly that of Japanese built vehicles. Honda has long been one of my favorite manufacturers, although lately I haven’t really been too impressed with anything they’ve come out with which is disappointing to me.  I am however happy to see that Honda is committed to our environment and plans on enhancing fuel efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions within 3 years.

Above you’ll see a Honda animated video entitled “Blue Skies for Our Children” which really embraces Honda’s commitment. It is beautifully done and I think really touches on the fact that they want future generations to enjoy the planet too.

“Earth Dreams Technology” is a next generation set of technological advancements which greatly enhance both driving performance and fuel efficiency at a high level, using as its base advanced environmental technologies to pursue the joy of driving unique to Honda. It is a series of measures in which efficiency of internal combustion components including engine, and transmission, as well as electric-powered motor technology, is further improved.

Through its implementation first in the mini-vehicle N BOX and gradually onto other vehicle models, Honda aims to achieve top-of-industry fuel efficiency for every category within three years, while simultaneously setting a timeline of 2020 to reduce by 30% CO2 emissions for all products sold worldwide, relative to emission figures for 2000.

Star Wars Themed VW Passat by Artist Ken Lashley

Here’s a car that got a lot of attention over at SEMA last week. The car is a VW Passat, but what makes the car so special is that it was covered from head to toe with hand drawn Star Wars art by comic book artist, Ken Lashley. The car itself was originally created during this past SDCC and auctioned off. It however found time to make an appearance at SEMA wearing some really nice Rotiform BLQs.

Above though, you’ll see the original time lapse video from VW on the creation of this one of a kind car.

1977 Star Wars Toyota Celica – Missing

It’s not often that I see 2 of my favorite subjects together especially when they are 2 subjects that are worlds apart from each other. In the above picture is a 1977 Toyota Celica Liftback GT that was used as the first officially sanctioned Star Wars themed car. It was given away in a sweepstakes, but as of today, the whereabouts of the vehicle are completely unknown. You see, after the car was given away, it disappeared off the face of this earth.

The Official Star Wars Blog has documented a complete history of this car and what happened to it up until it was given away. No one seems to know about its whereabouts so the OSWB has issued a missing cars report to see if anybody out there has any information concerning this car. Check out there post here.

In what was hands down the best commercial for me of the Super Bowl, Volkswagen has now released the official “Making of” video for the commercial, The Force. Lots of outtakes here and bloopers to watch and it’s as enjoyable as the final commercial was.

Volkswagen’s New Star Wars Themed Commercial: The Force

February 3, 2011 1 comment

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything Star Wars related here but when I saw this new Volkswagen commercial, I knew I just had to post it here. I won’t spoil anything from the commercial itself but my only question is, where can I get that Darth Vader costume for my son??? A+ Volkswagen on the commercial. As a father, I would so do the same thing.

Ken Block is Back with Gymkhana THREE, Part 2 – Insane Donut Action

September 15, 2010 Leave a comment

Filmed at I’Autodrome, France, Gymkhana THREE, Part 2 is the true sequel to Ken Block’s previous 2 efforts. Instead of throwing around a Subaru this ttime, Ken Block has switched over to team Ford and is now driving a highly modified RWD Ford Fiesta. It’s pretty amazing what this guy can do with a car so I’ll just let the video speak for itself.

Insane Forza Motorsports 3 Gymkhana Action

Found this on Youtube while trying to find some Ken Block Gymkhana vids. This is a fan made video using Forza Motorsports 3 and a replica of Ken Blocks Monster Energy Subaru Impreza STi.
