This is actually something really neat we are doing with our son this year for Christmas. We’ve always wanted to do an Advent Calendar for him but never really knew what to for him as we didn’t want to just give him candy or useless little trinkets. Well, when I saw this, I knew we had to do this for him. He’s a big Star Wars fan as well as a LEGO fan and this will be something special for him that will help him count down the days until Christmas. What’s great about this is that these are things he will be able to enjoy even when Christmas is over.
The LEGO Star Wars 2011 Advent Calendar is available for around $39.99 at most retail stores.
I’m a big fan of vinyl toys, especially those that are featured at Kidrobot. They are usually really cool looking and are in essence, tiny pieces of vinyl art. If you’re a fan of Capcom’s popular STreet Fighter series, you’ll be happy to note that Kidrobot will be selling blind assortments of 3-inch vinyl Street Fighter figures.
Starting July 7th, you’ll be able to pick them up for $9.95 each. Because they are blind assortments, you’ll probably want to pick up more than one since you will not know what you’re going to get until you open it.
I saw this over at Autoblog and having lived through the 80′s, Transformers was one of my favorite cartoons at the time. In fact, I still have a special place in my heart for the original ones so seeing this really brought back some memories. The above pic is just a snippet of the massive image. Next Tuesday is the day that the LittleBigPlanet 2 hits store shelves. If you opted not to get the Collector’s Edition of the game, then you’ll be missing out on your very own Sackboy plushie. Don’t miss out on the fun of owning your own Sackboy though as you can now purchase Sackboy action figures from ThinkGeek. These 4″ action figures are made of plastic and posable. Each includes a Pop-It Lasso and sticker sheet. They are available now at ThinkGeek for $14.99 each.
Play. Create. Share.
Sackboy is a special little dude. He likes jumping and running and exploring the world. Kinda just like you, if you think about it. Jumping through the hoops of adult life, figuring out the platforms of business, exploring the um . . . somethings of something else. Ok, so our comparison has fallen apart. But who cares, because these LittleBigPlanet 4″ Action Figures will make everything better.
Each one of the LittleBigPlanet 4″ Action Figures comes with one fun-to-play-with figure, a bendy Pop-it Lasso, and a sheet of stickers. You can build levels out of everyday objects (just like in the game) and decorate them with stickers (just like in the game)! These LittleBigPlanet 4″ Action Figures are a great way to bring some adventure into your life, while making your everyday desk objects suddenly important level components. Sackboy wants to come home with you, today!
This Vinylmation series was developed by Mike Sullivan and especially for the Disney Parks. It will not be available for sale via the on-line Disney Theme Park Store or at local Disney Stores. There will be 12 figures total and again, will only be available in the parks and not online.
There will be 2 special release parties for the new series and they will be located at the following:
In Florida, D-Street at Downtown Disney West Side will hold the first ever “midnight release party” at the close of Thursday, January 13 (so technically early Friday morning). As part of the festivities, Mike will be available to autograph figures from 12:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Mike will then book passage on the Millennium Falcon, and travel to D-Street at the Downtown Disney District in California on Sunday, January 16. He will autograph figures from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. D-Street will open at 8:00 a.m. that Sunday morning.
If you’re a Star Wars fan, I’d definitely go check out both events if you are near the area. I’m about 4 hours away from Orlando which is not too far away, but it’s still a long trek for me and I”m not heading to any Disney Parks anytime soon. All I have to say is that I need someone who lives in the Orlando area to buy me some of these. My birthday is coming up next week and this would make a fabulous birthday present. *wink wink.
Was browsing the web for some Mario pics when I came across this posted over at GadgetSin.com. It’s from artist Jason Freeny who seems to do a lot of these anatomical sculptures.
KidRobot now has The Simpsons Series 2 characters for sale in blind boxes. Each box is priced at $9.95 and include 1 random 3-inch vinyl figure. There are 25 new figures total that you can collect but since these come in blind boxes, you’ll most likely need to buy more than 25 to collect them all. I just want all the zombie figures. Click on the image above to get yours today from KidRobot and to see more images of other figures included in Series 2.
I really love what LEGO is doing these days with the Star Wars line. If they weren’t so costly, I probably would be the proud owner of every LEGO Star Wars set. With that said, you are looking at LEGO’s newest Star Wars set, the Imperial Shuttle. This thing is huge with a wing span of almost 2-feet and includes around 2500 pieces! Like the Millennium Falcon set, the Imperial Shuttle doesn’t come cheap. Priced at $259.99, this isn’t something you would buy your 4 year old. Of course for a 33 year old geek, the price is within reason.
You can purchase the Imperial Shuttle now at the LEGO online store here.

No matter how old I get, I will always have a fascination with toys. It died down a little as I got older but after having my son, my love of toys has come back full force. I love weekend outings to Toys R Us and I often see toys that I wish they had when I was a kid and if I could, I would buy them all up right now. Of course, once in a while I do a see a toy that just boggles my mind and makes me wonder why exactly is this being sold at a toy store?
This one “toy” really makes me wonder why would they even be selling this at Toys R Us. To the untrained eye it just looks like a regular cup game where players throw a small ball into it. However, to us seasoned vets, we caneasily recognize what this game really is. BEER PONG! This seems to be more like early childhood training for one of the most intense college games ever.
Next up are the LEGOs. I love LEGOs. I love the fact that with a LEGO set, you can basically build almost anything your imagination can think of as long as you have all the proper pieces. I had LEGOs as a child but I never had any LEGO sets like these. Toys R Us is literally stocked to the brim with all kinds of Star Wars LEGO sets which if I had the money, I would buy each and every single on of them. The X-Wing Fighter is probably my favorite of the bunch and also comes with 6 mini-figs.
If you have children, you know what Yo Gabba Gabba is and who DJ Lance is. In fact, you may even be a fan yourself. I know I am. As weird as the show it, it is very catchy and children seem to really love it. Kid Robot will be releasing a 3-inch DJ Lance Dunny September 2nd to all their retail outlets for $9.95. The DJ Lance Dunny was previously only available at the 2010 San Diego Comic Con at limited quantities but will now be available to the general public. This might be one of the most unnecessary purchases I make this year but its an item I need to have. “Just because” is my reasoning.
Next up is Lard Lad Dunny from the Simpsons which will also be available from Kid Robot on September 2nd. The massive mascot of Homer Simpson’s favorite donut emporium, Lard Lad is 6-inches of donut hoarding vinyl. Lard Lad will be available for $39.95 when it is released.
So I was at Toys R Us earlier and I noticed that they were giving out a free Limited Edition Star Wars Chrome Stormtrooper with the purchase of any Star Wars Lego construction set. Well, I didn’t want to buy a whole set just to get the 1 Stormtrooper so I asked the nice lady at the front desk to see one and if it would be possible to just buy it. Guess what? She let me buy it for $2.99. Not bad. Now I’m the proud owner of a Limited Edition Star Wars Chrome Stormtrooper. Score!
Disney will be offering this limited edition Donald Duck Shadow Trooper figure during the Star Wars Celebration V even held in Orlando. The figure is limited to 5000 pieces so you know it will be a pretty collectible item. If you are heading to Star Wars Celebration V Aug. 12-15, make sure you pick one of these up.
Description:
Donald Duck explores his darker side as he portrays the Empire’s stealth soldier, the shadow trooper. With his advanced armor, Donald Duck can create mischief throughout the galaxy and then silently slip away to his next adventure.
As part of our Disney Star Wars Action Figure Series, this figure will be available exclusively at the Celebration V Disney event location. In honor of Star Wars Celebration V, this will be a limited edition of 5,000 pieces and will retail for $11.95. It will come on an individually-numbered backer card, and it will be in a collector blister-case, molded with the Star Wars Celebration V logo.
