PR: Appular releases Terrorist Zombies for iOS DevicesAppular releases Terrorist Zombies for iOS Devices

January 4, 2011 Leave a comment

Appular was on a roll towards the end of 2010 releasing a handful of fairly good games. They seem to be continuing their steady release of apps in 2011 as they have just released their newest game, Terrorist Zombies to the App Store. In Terrorist Zombies, you play a lone Marine who must defend an area from the oncoming hoard.

“With Terrorist Zombies, we set out to create an engaging and intense iOS third-person shooter. After all of the weapons were created and loaded into the game, we realized we had an absolute wild ride on our hands,” says Jack Freeman, Founder of Champion Software (developers of Terrorist Zombies). “Terrorist Zombies delivers on the two things we were hoping to accomplish with the game: raising the stakes and getting the adrenaline pumping.”

Terrorist Zombies is available now in the App Store for $0.99 for the iPhone and $1.99 for the HD iPad version. Click the read more link for more information as well as the link to both apps.

TGWK’s Review of “Get to Tha Choppa!!1″ v1.2 (iOS)

January 4, 2011 Leave a comment

Here’s a quick review of and indie game called Get to Tha Choppa!!1 by So So Dev Games. I just happened upon this game on day and somehow never got around to playing it until now. I had never heard of it nor did I know that it was previously an Xbox Live Indie game. There isn’t really much to the plot of the game except that your a dude who is running from a horde of zombies trying to get to “tha choppa” for safety. Get to Tha Choppa!!1 may put off a few people due to its unique art style, but you shouldn’t brush the game off because of that.

Dead Nation Tips and Tricks for Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse

December 6, 2010 Leave a comment

If you’ve been playing Dead Nation like I have lately, you’ll know that surviving a zombie horde is no easy feat, in fact it can be downright overwhelming. PlayStation.Blog thankfully has posted up a few tips and tricks that should really help some of you out. A few of the tips listed are as follows:

  • Rest a little. Your character automatically regenerates 20% of his or her life bar. If you’re low on life and facing long odds, grab that next health kit after you regenerate and you’ll come out ahead.
  • Max out your Endurance. If you’re having trouble surviving, equip ArmoShell armor upgrades at the next Weapon Shop to boost your defense.
  • It pays to wait. Glowing blue boxes always carry ammo; all other boxes alternate between red (score multiplayer) and gold (money for weapons and upgrades). If you’re strapped for cash, wait for each box to turn gold before opening it.

There are a lot more tips posted at PlayStation.Blog. Enjoy.

TGWK’s Quick Review of Dead Nation (PlayStation 3)

December 1, 2010 Leave a comment

Dead Nation finally came out on the PlayStation 3 and it’s a game that I’ve been looking forward to since the summer after personally hearing about it. Dead Nation is another zombie apocalypse type game where you are one of two sole survivors and must fight hordes of zombies to reach safety. The game is actually very similar to Valve’s Left for Dead series except that it’s not a FPS, it’s a top down shooter. Since this is another quick impressions, I’ll just state some of my observations from playing last night.

First off, the graphics are pretty amazing. The environment is very detailed and really does look like a huge world ending catastrophe just occurred. It’s very dark and moody and the only thing that lights your way are burning buildings, cars and your flashlight. There are some flickers of light around, but not enough to really light your way. Characters on screen are quite small but pretty detailed. You can tell the difference between all the different kinds of zombies and it’s actually quite amazing the number of zombies that appear onscreen at one time.

The game is quite fun and can get really chaotic with everything that is going on at one time. You can upgrade your weapons in game from money you collect, however I am still trying to figure out how all that works as I only got to play the game for about an hour.

Now here’s the part that really threw me off guard and was a huge let down especially in this age of online gaming. There is no online game chat. Dead Nation allows you to play co-op online with another friend but there is no function to chat with this person. I played online with fellow gamer Doriftu and we literally spent the whole time trying to figure out how to implement voice chat and couldn’t because it doesn’t exist. So in a game where you really need to communicate with your buddy due to how hectic the game can get, you can’t. That is the one thing that really holds this game back from being as fun as it can be. Hopefully this gets rectified in an update because I find it pretty ridiculous that you can’t communicate with your partner.

Other than that one issue, I do recommend Dead Nation for anyone who owns a PS3 and loves zombie games. It’s fun and a proper zombie apocalypse game that is true to its genre. I recommend playing this with all your lights off and the audio way up and highly recommend using gaming headsets if you have. I also recommend playing this with a friend as it’s always nice to have someone covering you while killing zombies.

Review: Age of Zombies v1.0 (iOS)

October 28, 2010 Leave a comment

Warning: As light-hearted as this game may be, it is definitely not for small children. There is a bit of cursing in the game and quite a bit of blood. There is a lot of animated violence and the theme is very adult in nature. Age of Zombies is rated 12+.

Age of Zombies is the latest game to come out of Halfbrick Studios. In Age of Zombies, you play as Barry Steakfries, a mercenary out for blood – zombie blood. The evil Professor Brains has unleashed a hoard of zombies back in time and you must go back and kill them all before they destroy the world.

As cliche as the whole zombie genre is, I never grow tired of it. It’s a scientific fact that adding zombies to anything makes it instantaneously better. Since Halloween is coming up, this is the perfect game to get you in the holiday spirit. It’s zombie clobbering time!

Age of Zombies! by Halfbrick Studios is a fast paced action shooter from the makers of Fruit Ninja and Monster Dash. Age of Zombies! features character Barry Steakfries as he battles hordes of zombies in order to save the world. The game looks to be loads of fun with a very cartoon like art style to it that should make it fun for the whole family, even though there are zombies involved. Age of Zombies! will be out in the App Store this week on October 28th just in time for Halloween.

Official Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare Trailer

October 13, 2010 Leave a comment

Warning: Red Dead Redemption is rated M for Mature. That means that as a responsible parent, you should not let your children under the age of 17 play this game. The game contains blood, violence, nudity, sexual content, strong language and drug use. You have been warned.

I’m looking forward to this. Red Dead Redemption is one of my favorite western games I’ve ever played. For the most part, the only western game I’ve ever played. How else can Rockstar possibly make it any better? Well, with zombies of course.

Follow John Marston in this nightmarish adventure as he tries to find a cure for “a virulent plague turning people into flesh-eating crazies” (as Seth Briars so eloquently puts it in today’s new trailer).

Featuring a full new single-player story with all new gameplay and multiplayer modes — along with new weapons, zombie animals, mythical creatures and even a brand new secret location – the Undead Nightmare Pack will be available very soon for download via PlayStation®Network ($9.99) and Xbox LIVE® (800 Microsoft Points).

New Dead Nation Trailer: Know Your Enemy – Online Co-op Also Confirmed

October 7, 2010 Leave a comment

Warning: Dead Nation is rated M for Mature. Zombies. Guts. Blood. Zombies. Guns. More Blood. More Zombies. You get the picture.

Sony just released a new trailer for Dead Nation that shows off some of the special baddies you’ll be facing off against in the game. Some of them look eerily similar to those you might have seen in another game (ahem: Left 4 Dead). Nevertheless, I am still looking forward to this game, especially with the announcement that there will be online co-op play!

All I need to know now is when does Dead Nation come out? I got my money ready.

New Zombie Farm Update Integrates with GameCenter and Adds New Social Site

October 7, 2010 Leave a comment

Farming + Zombies = Zombie Farm!

Playforge’s popular iOS game, Zombie Farm has been updated today with a host of new features. The big news here is the addition of GameCenter support and achievements! As you know, most games now include achievements as an added challenge for the player. These also serve as bragging rights as some achievements are quite difficult to obtain.

The new Zombie Farm update also includes various UI enhancements, new combat abilities for zombies, new daily offers, and quests just to name a few.

“We’ve taken great care to make Zombie Farm a compelling offline, single-player game, while adding tons of fun social elements for our fans to enjoy,” says Vince McDonnell, creator of Zombie Farm. “When you link the game up with Facebook, you’ll notice that some of your zombies are named after your friends, and there’s also a Zombie Camera that allows you to take photos of your farm and share them with friends online.”

Also as part of this update, Playforge has also launched a new social site for Zombie Farm. The new website serves as a fantastic hub for the community, with links to FAQ’s, social networks and forums. It also offers playful comics, videos, cool screenshots and even generates different 3D zombies with every visit!

Zombie Farm is free to play and download. Look for the Zombie Farm update now as it was just updated in the App Store today.
