Tilly’s Petting Farm is an educational app from developer Shoto that teaches vocabulary to children. It uses a farm as a means of teaching children words and phrases associated with the farm. Children will be able to explore different settings on the farm and learn all about the animals, items, and activities there.
The app itself is very simple for children to use. All they have to do is choose a scene they want to learn and interact with and from there, they just tap away. Each scene is filled with items children can interact and tap on. Almost everything on the screen is tappable. Each item tapped has multiple phrases. Most tell you what the object is and also what the object does or how it is interacting with the environment. Each item also has its own animation too which is a nice touch instead of just a basic static image. There are four scenes total and plenty to interact with.
I recommend Tilly’s Petting Farm for younger children who are still learning about the world around them. After your child has explored everything there is to explore in Tilly’s Petting Farm, the app can go into quiz mode. Just click on the magnifying glass and the app begins asking a series of questions and you must click on the object that best answers the question. It’s a good way to help children remember what they learned and retain that information knowing that they will be questioned on it.
Tilly’s Petting Farm is a pretty good learning app for young children. It’s almost like using an interactive picture book where everything in the book can be tapped on and learned from. Everything you click on moves and each has about 3 or 4 different words of phrases they say. The included quiz mode can be a bit easy for older children, but it’s still a good way to review what they know or have learned. Al-in-all I did like the app and the sheer amount of phrases it can teach you.

The app consists of four drawings. Each drawing consists of two parts.
In one part you can hear all sorts of fun phrases and sounds when you touch a picture. It also moves the image or something pops out.
The other part consists of questions that can be answered by touching the appropriate picture. If the child answered a question incorrectly three times, a hint is shown. After five wrong answers a new question will automatically be asked. Your child will never get stuck in the app, so it won’t get frustrated or discouraged.
