Gran Turismo 5 will already feature more than 1000 cars when it’s released but one of the more interesting bits of news coming out of the Tokyo Game Show 2010 is that Polyphony Digital and Red Bull Racing created a brand new car, the X1 Prototype just for Gran Turismo 5. The X1 does not exist outside of the game but the reason for inclusion is the following:

Kazunori explained that both teams were interested in building a car that “throws aside all rules and regulations,” and was built for maximum performance — “the fastest racing car on land.” The X1 Prototype will be playable in GT5.

It will surely be interesting to check out what Polyphony Digital and Red Bull Racing deem the fastest racing car on  land.
