Farm Frenzy 3 HD is a new farming sim from developer Alawar Entertainment. If you’re thinking, “oh no, another farming game,” then you’ll be missing out on a completely different kind of experience. This isn’t your run of the mill game where you plant crops, wait hours for them to grow, harvest to collect money, then repeat over and over type game. This is a game with actual objectives that consist of much faster gameplay. Farm Frenzy 3 HD plays more like a puzzle game. There are 95 levels included in the game and each has specific objects you need to complete in order to move on to the next level. It’s a fast-paced game and you need to stay on your toes because not only will you need to harvest plants and livestock, you’ll need to defend them from predators as well.

Gameplay in Farm Frenzy 3 HD consists of objective based levels. Each level features specific goals, presenting you with specific crops, livestock, and products you need to make in order to pass all objectives. You are given a set amount of money to start with and must use it wisely to manage your farm. You can gain money by selling the items you produce with your crops and livestock as well as selling predators you capture. Predators appear throughout the game that try to eat your livestock and crops and you must rapidly tap on them to cage them up before they do. From there you can sell them to make money and manage your farm.

The graphics in Farm Frenzy 3 are pretty standard, nothing ground breaking but the HD graphics look good on the iPad. Everything is colorful, lively, and “cute” which should appeal to everyone playing the game. There are different environments you’ll be playing on and each has their own unique set of animals, plants, and predators to deal with. There is no shortage of variety in this game.

Farm Frenzy 3 HD  is a much more satisfying and fulfilling game than your usual crop of farming games. What I love about it is that it doesn’t require you to micromanage your entire life just to make sure you harvest your crops on time before they wither and die, nor does it force you to spend real money on trivial items to decorate your farm. Farm Frenzy 3 HD is a real game with real objectives and goals. It will satisfy the casual gamer as well as the more seasoned ones.
