The Cleveland Show Dance Off is from Fox Mobile Interactive and features the character, Cleveland Brown of Family Guy and The Cleveland Show fame. The game in essence is a dancing game but in reality, is one of those timed tapping games where you must tap circles that appear around the screen to gain points. If I could compare this game to anything, it would be similar to games like Dance Dance Revolution, Tap Tap Revenge, or even Guitar Hero.

The whole game is based on tapping, with the occasional drag and swipe needed. Circles pop up around the screen and it’s your job to tap on them before they disappear. A small ring appears around each circle and gets smaller the longer you take to tap. This also affects the scoring as well. Tapping a circle quickly will give you less points than if you were to wait and tap on them when the outer circle is the size of the inner  circle. Other actions that can be performed are swipes where some circles will require you to swipe them in the direction of the arrow they show or dragging a circle to another point on the screen. This adds variety to the game and does make the game a bit harder than just straight tapping.

Graphically the game is ok. There isn’t much to the backgrounds used but they are “shiny” and at least aren’t static. The main attraction of the game though is dancing Cleveland Brown and with that, they did a fabulous job on. The animations look like they were ripped straight out of the TV show as well as the sound bites. It’s very well done and Mr. Cleveland has some great moves.

The Cleveland Show Dance Off is a fun, face-paced game that will really give your thumbs a work out. It’s best played with two hands and sharp eyes. This is a nice addition to the whole tap tap genre and fans of this kind of game should really enjoy this. The only downside to the game in my opinion is that you can only use 1 of the Cleveland character skins to play. In order to play as the other versions of Cleveland, you’ll have to plunk down some more money for the in-app purchases. Other than that, it’s still a fun game even with only 1 costume to use.
