Today I’m taking a look at another id America case for the iPhone 4, the Ice/Dry Ice. Unlike most of the other cases out there, this one is not a flimsy silicone or rubber case. It is instead a sturdy, hard, polycarbonate shell that completely envelopes the phone in protective armor. It’s a two-piece design where you snap the front and the rear together to form a case that fits like a glove and is able to protect the rear, sides, and to some extent the front from damage. The case is made to fit the iPhone 4 perfectly with all the necessary openings for all buttons, speakers, and ports. There are two versions you can buy. There is the Ice which is a crystal clear case, and the Dry Ice which is a matte case with a soft touch finish. Aside from the finish, both cases are identical in nature and function.
The Ice/Dry Ice case is very easy to install. Clean your phone, install the included front and rear screen protectors if you choose to do so, and then snap the two-piece case over your iPhone. It’s a bit of force to get them completely snapped together but once you do, it’s not going to come apart again unless you want it to.
Once on, the case looks very good. It’s doesn’t really add too much bulk to the iPhone 4 at all but it thick enough where you feel a bit more confident in its protective powers if you were to accidentally drop it. The clear Ice case in my opinion looks the best as it really allows you to show off your iPhone 4/4S the way Apple intended and from afar, it looks like you don’t even have a case on it. The Dry Ice isn’t bad either as the soft touch finish will keep smudges away and its a bit gripper than the standard Ice.
There really is no downside to either the Ice or Dry Ice except for maybe the fact that a hard case doesn’t quite offer the shock absorbancy of rubber or silicon. Also the hard case is a bit more prone to getting scratches on them which if you are into how your device looks, this could be something that bothers you. Other than that though, it’s a very good case that offers piece of mind.
You can grab yourself a Ice or Dry Ice on id America’s site here for $19.99 which is very affordable considering it also includes front and rear screen protectors.
