Astroslugs is a puzzle solving board game from developer Bit Barons. The game’s story goes a little bit like this, Astroslugs travel through space looking for prized slug energy. They have to solve these puzzles on each planet they visit in order to acquire this energy. It’s your job to help them. Puzzles in this game consists of varying boards in which you must draw shapes on the board to match the shapes given to you. These shapes must all fit exactly on the board in order to clear it. Its similar to what you would expect in a tangram style game but with a twist.

The game itself is very accessible to most users. The controls are easy to master and mainly consist of you drawing shapes with your finger. Menus are easy to navigate and easy enough for even children to start playing on their own. Graphically, the game looks pretty good. It doesn’t use any fancy 3D rendered graphics or anything and instead relies on good old fashioned, hand drawn artwork which in my opinion always looks great when done properly. There’s also a lot of color involved which helps add to the whole visual look of the game.

Astroslugs HD is a challenging and creative take on what I consider to be a tangram style game. It might not be apparent at first, but it does have a lot of similarities. As you progress, the puzzles will get more and more difficult, but luckily, there really isn’t a correct way to solve them. There are in fact multiple ways to solve each puzzle which allows  you to try different solutions but if you ever do get stuck on a puzzle, they do offer hints. Astroslugs HD is easy to jump into and play with challenges that will keep you coming back for more.
