Wall of Memories is a photo gallery type app from developers In Between Apps. It is a new and highly different way of viewing your images in comparison to the default photos app included with the iPad. For starters, the app uses the metaphor of rooms as a gallery for your images. Each room is its own self contained gallery where you’ll need to import images into. Images are treated as framed pictures where you’ll be able to adjust almost every aspect of the way it’s displayed. You can change the size, positioning, frame type, color, etc. It’s a very graphical representation of your photo gallery that mimics what you would maybe see in a fancy house or museum.

Wall of Memories as I stated above works like a room full of photos. The app starts off with a default room and wall of photos that you can delete and create a new room. You can name each room as something to differentiate them as well as give each room different kinds of wallpapers. Once in the room, you are given a blank wall to fill with photos. Click Edit to add a photo from your camera roll. From there you can also pick a frame to use, a mat board color to use, and the size and shape of the photo & frame. You can even move and position the frame anywhere you want on the wall. This allows for some really creative photo frame placements which also means that no 2 photo walls will ever be the same.

Once all your pictures are hung on the wall, you can slide from left to right to view them all. You can even go into slideshow mode which will highlight each photo frame for you to view while darkening the rest of the wall. Another option is to view the slideshow in full screen mode where it will just show you the enlarged picture without the frame. One option I would like to see however while viewing the wall is to be able to tap on each photo frame to zoom into an enlarged view of it. Presently you can’t do that and the only way yo view the photo larger is to use the slideshow option in full screen mode.

Wall of Memories is in my opinion one of the best looking ways to display your images on the iPad. The use of photo walls and frames really gives it a unique look and looks great too if you’re using your iPad as a picture frame. It’s almost like you are looking into a tiny room of memories. It has some limitations as you need to import the images you want 1 by 1 and there is no way to import an entire folder from your camera roll from what I can see. I can see why they did this however as not everyone wants to display ever single image that is on their camera roll and this also allows you to make your own custom photo walls. Overall, I like how pretty much everything is customizable and there is a fairly good amount of free frames and colors to choose from without you having to dip into the in-app purchases. If you’re the type who likes showing off their pictures and displaying them, I definitely recommend Wall of Memories.
