TGWK’s Review – Tamron MPE [My Photo Exhibits] v2.0 (iOS)

You may know Tamron as a company that makes some really great third party lenses for many of the top camera brands out there, but did you know that they also have their own iPhone / iPad app? Tamron has created an app called, My Photo Exhibit and it allows you to create your own interactive 3D photo galleries for all to see. There is no fee to use the site and starting your own exhibit is as easy as signing up with your email address or Facebook account. Once you are signed up, you’re ready to begin.

Tamron MPE allows you to upload all your photos in high resolution. There doesn’t seem to be a limit on how many photos you can upload so that in itself already makes it more useful to me than something like Flickr that has a file limit unless you upgrade to a paid account. My Photo Exhibits also allows you to organize all your photos into different exhibits for viewing. Once you have you photos uploaded, you can then customize your exhibit space. This has a very “Sims” feel to it and you’ll be able to customize the walls, floor, furniture, frame types, and lighting. According to Tamron, this gives it a very Soho-like feel to it.

What I also find very interesting about the Tamron MPE is that it has a very social aspect to it. Users can send out invitations to have people come and view your exhibits and what’s cool is that you can make these private invitation only exhibits or open to the public. You can even share your exhibits over Facebook or other social media platforms. From within the app, users can also visit other people’s exhibits and favorite them or start following specific photographers. It’s basically it’s own social media platform as well.

Images are displayed on a wall and you can click on each photo to view brief description about them. Clicking them again allows you to view them in high resolution. It’s all very nice looking and I really like the way photos are displayed. I also like the fact that people who view your galleries do not need to have the Tamron My Photo Exhibits app to view them. They can easily view your exhibits on the myphotoexhibits.com website. After users view your exhibit, they have the option of signing your guestbook and leaving comments about your photos.

If you’re fond of photography, I’d definitely give this app and the website a look. Since it is from Tamron, you know that they are serious about photography and the site and app really show it.

Tamron MPE [My Photo Exhibits] is available now in the App Store for Free. It is a universal app and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.Requires iOS 5.0 or later.
