Almost exactly 1 year ago, I reviewed a little known wall iPhone/iPad wall mount called the Dockem from Organization Solutions. This was a simple wall mount that could be mounted to any surface with special 3M adhesive. Once mounted, you could place your iPhone/iPad on the mount and use it for hands-free viewing or charging at night. It was a very useful little thing, though it wasn’t exactly what I’d call pretty. Well, that all changes now with the introduction of their new Koala Mount which is made specifically for tablets.

For the most part, the way in which the Koala Mount functions is very similar to the Dockem, so I won’t really get too much into that. Basically you use the included 3M Command adhesive strips to the back of each mount and then size them to fit whatever tablet you using, in this case I’m using an iPad 2. The Command strips will stick to virtually any surface so you can mount the Koala Mount almost anywhere you need your tablet.

The Koala Mount is a much better looking wall mount than the original Dockem. They looks a lot more modern looking and don’t just look like pieces of plastic. The set I received was their special chrome finish. This makes them look like sturdy metal mounts instead of the regular black or white plastic that you can also get them in. The chrome finish definitely would be the color I suggest you opt for if you do decide to get this. Another updated feature now on the Koala Mount is the inclusion of an actual cable holder which the previous Dockem didn’t really have. This means that your cable will always be where you need it to be and in easy reach of your mount.

Like the original Dockem, the Koala Mount might not make sense to some users, especially since some may have cases with built in stands. But, the main fact is that the Koala Mount allows you to mount your iPad or tablet on any wall while freeing up counter top space or being able to use it in places where you just can’t use a table stand. It’s a secure method of mounting and you don’t have to worry about knocking your tablet over while using it. It’s quick to install and requires absolutely no drilling. If you decide later you want to move it, the Command strips are easy to remove and you can then reinstall the Koala Mount as long as you have extra Command adhesive strips which are readily available at most stores.

Overall, I find the Koala Mount a much more attractive looking mount than the original Dockem and it doesn’t cost that much either. At $19.99, they are an affordable way to wall mount your tablets.
