Raptured! v1.0 Review for iOS [TheGamerWithKids.com]

Raptured! is what developer Sunny Tam describes as a rapture simulator, although accuracy of the events can not be guaranteed. Basically, Raptured! is of the “endless running” type games where the goal is to just see how far you can get while avoiding obstacles, and boy are there a lot of obstacles. The main appeal of the game for me however that sets it apart from most games are the graphics. Raptured! utilizes old school retro graphics in the form of pixel art and it seems to work really well for this game. The gameplay is fast and intense as well as very challenging, but easy to jump right in to.

Controls are very easy in Raptured. All you do it tap on the left side of the screen to move left and tap on the right side of the screen to move right. The level moves from top to bottom and you must avoid other other souls, earth destroying disasters like meteors and huge nuclear bombs. There are no powerups to help you along your way except for a speed/distance boost, but that’s it. It’s not as deep of a game as something like Jetpack Joyride for instance.

Raptured! is a decent take on the endless running genre of games. It’s not the deepest of games, but it’s fun, fast, and challenging. I really like the retro graphics and the old school soundtrack and sound effects. The game can be a bit difficult and requires lightning fast reflexes to get far, but overall, it’s pretty enjoyable.

Raptured! is available now in the App Store for $0.99. It is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 3.0 or later.
