Today I have something a bit different to show you for the iPhone 5. We’ve already seen a variety of cases from different manufacturers, but what if you don’t want a case? What if all you want to do is somehow decorate your iPhone 5 so that it looks different from everyone else’s? What if all you want to do is stand out in a crowd while showing off how awesomely thin and light the current iPhone 5 is? Well, you could always get an id America Cushi.
I reviewed a few of these a while back for the iPhone 4/4S. Basically, the id America Cushi is a soft, foam pad that you apply to the rear of your iPhone 5. It is primarily used as a form of decoration that will help you personalize your iPhone 5 without compromising its original form factor. They are really easy to apply and come in a wide variety of styles and colors. To apply, just remove the rear adhesive strip backing from the Cushi, line it up properly with the rear of the iPhone 5, and then press down firmly. It’s similar to applying a screen protector but without all the hassle of having to squeeze out bubbles.
I must point out again, that the Cushi is not a protective case. In fact, it really offers very minimal protection and the main function of it is too make your iPhone 5 look good. It is made of EVA foam that is very soft and does provide some shock protection from light drops. If anything, it’ll help protect the rear of your phone from getting all scratched up. Another added benefit of the Cushi is that is provides quite a bit of grip for your fingers as the aluminum back of the new iPhone can be a bit slippery at times. I really like the fact that the Cushi is a 3D molded design and not just a flat design you’d see with vinyl sticker appliques. These have textures to them which gives them a really nice look and feel.
There are 8 different categories of Cushi you can choose from, and each category has a plethora of different styles. My favorite of the bunch are probably the DJ and Cassette series. Each design also comes with matching sets up home button protectors than can make it much easier to find your home button if you’re searching for it blindly. Each Cushi costs around $14.95 and did I also mention that they come with a screen protector, a squeegee, and a microfofiber cleaning cloth? Don’t you just love extras? You can grab these at id America’s site, here.
