Who Stole the Moon is an interactive storybook app from developer WindyPress. The story is about a boy named Bertie who is on a quest to discover who has stolen the moon. You see, every night when Bertie goes to be, he always sees the moon high above in the night sky. One night, Bertie could not see the moon in the sky and convinces himself that someone has stolen the moon. His journey to discover who has done it leads him out into the night time world where nocturnal animals frolic. Bertie meets lots of new animal friends along the way.
Like with most really good stroybook apps, Who Stole the Moon contains everything needed for a fun and engaging experience. Almost every page contained in the story has interactive elements. Some even include fun minigames to play. Each page is animated and the narrator in the story is very clear and audible. I also really enjoyed the illustrations in the book as they were quite well done. When the main story is complete, kids will have a chance to go back and read it again, play fun minigames without going through the whole story again, or listen and sing along with all the songs that are included with the book. There are 4 mini-games in total and 8 songs to sing along too.
Who Stole the Moon is an excellent storybook app for children. The story is very engaging and the interactive elements on each page will keep children entertained. The story itself is very good along with the illustrations and narration. The only thing with this app however is that it is for iPad only and not universal. However I think with storybook apps, the iPad is better suited for book reading.
Who Stole the Moon? is available now in the App Store for $4.99. It is compatible with iPad. Requires iOS 4.3 or later.
