id America Mist Case for iPhone 5 Review

One of the last cases from id America that I had a chance to look at was the their new line of Mist cases for the iPhone 5. These are basically just hard shell, polycarbonate cases like the ones I’ve seen before from other makers except for a few small differences that do make the id America version stick out from the crowd.

For starters, like with most id America cases, I am very very pleased by the quality of their cases. Everything from the materials used to the fitment has always been top notch with them. The Mist is no different. Unlike some other hard shell cases I’ve used, the Mist seems really sturdy and not quite as fragile as some others, yet is really flexible and thin. Plus I love the fact that it has a matte finish to it which helps a lot with not allowing any fingerprints to ruin its good looks as well as making it much harder to scratch. It it does get scratched, it is a lot less noticeable than it would be on a glossy style case. Also, like with most id America cases, the Mist comes in a wide variety of colors that should suit any mood or style.

Like most other snap on cases, the Mist is really thin. That means when used with your iPhone 5, you’ll barely even notice that it’s on there. It also doesn’t entirely protect your iPhone 5. In fact, protection is quite minimal. For the most part, cases like this are meant to only protect the rear of your phone from scratches and light bumps but really does nothing for the top edges of your phone. It also leave the top and bottom portions of your iPhone 5 open to damage as well if dropped.  This is of course the type of case that appeals to those who hate cases and would normally not have a case anyways. If you’re one of these people, I still highly suggest you at least get something like this to give your iPhone 5 a tiny bit of protection.

The id America Mist case is available in a wide array of colors – Black, Blue, Pink, Purple, Red, White, Solid Black, and Solid White. You can pick these up on id America’s site directly for $14.95 here.
