Fishbowl Racer v1.01 for iOS Review

fishbowlracer_iconFishbowl Racer is a casual game in the endless runner category from Donut Games. Like most endless runner games, the goal is to see how far you can get and how many total points you can accumulate. However, there is something really special that makes Fishbowl Racer different from others. You see, in this game you actually have to control 2 separate objects, at the same time without crashing either of them. You have to keep everything moving with the fishbowl while collecting point with the goldfish. It may sound easy, but it’s not.

Playing Fishbowl Racer is a 2 handed affair. The left side of the screen controls the fishbowl while the right side of the screen controls the fish. Tap on either side of the screen to make them jump and you can even do a double jump as well. Now, I’m usually pretty good at these endless runner games, but let me tell you, Fishbowl Racer is one hard game. It is very difficult to control 2 separate items at once let alone trying to have both items avoid obstacles. This makes the game very challenging, even for seasoned endless runner players.

Graphically, the game is pretty good with very colorful art. My only gripe really is that it isn’t optimized for the iPhone 5 yet.

Fishbowl Racer is a great game if you’re looking for a real challenge. I like the fact that they added that extra level of challenge here which really differentiates it from other games in this genre. In theory, it should be easy to play this game and get a high score but it really isn’t. It will definitely give your fingers a work out and really test your hand-eye coordination.

Fishbowl Racer is available now in the App Store for $0.99. It is a universal app and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 3.0 or later.
