iMadeFace is an app I’ve been seeing around lately, or should I say the faces I’ve seen the app make have been making their way around all the social networks. I’ve seen a lot of my friends make cartoon versions of themselves with this app so I decided to check iMadeFace out for myself. It’s from Keyloft and judging from what I’ve seen so far, anyone should be able to make a digital version of themselves using it.

The app itself is very straight forward when it comes to creating faces. You start off by choosing to make either a boy or a girl. Once you do, you’ll be taken to the editing screen. Here you can change the shape of your face, hairstyle, eyebrows, eye shape, nose shape, lips, ears, facial hair, and accessories. It’s very simple to change all these features too. You just swipe left or right on each option to make changes and if there are color variations, you swipe up or down. Once you’ve completed creating your face, you can add one of the pre-made backgrounds to it as well as well a variety of different pre-made messages.

It’s a neat app but it isn’t without its problems. You can’t size any of the facial features for instance and you can space them out or move them around. Basically they stay where they were placed so you don’t quite get complete control over it. You also are limited to what is in the database of options, however it does seem like with each update, more and more options become available. You can also choose to buy some special parts and accessories if you choose to do so.

Overall though, iMadeFace is a fun app. It allows you create quite a bit of different faces and then use them for things like contact images, avatars, or profile images. You can also use them for messaging or whatever else you can think of. For the most part, you should be able to create a face that looks pretty much like yourself. Hopefully in a future update, they’ll add a bit more advanced editing functions to it.

iMadeFace is available now in the App Store for free. It is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 6.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
