One of the main uses now for our mobile phones is snapping photos of anything and everything. I can admit that even I use my iPhone for photo taking more than I do my regular camera sometimes. It’s no surprise than that photo sharing and photo editing apps are so popular right now. These apps allow us to do more with our photos than we could o back then with just regular cameras. They allow novices to create photos that would have been quite difficult back then. With that said, I’m checking out a new app today called Pixies from MindSmack. What the app does is allow you to add stickers and text to your photos, making them more fun. This is reminiscent of those fun sticker booths that were quite popular several years back.

The app makes creating fun photos easily. Just import a photo from your camera roll or take a new photo using the app. From there, tap on the little + button on the bottom corner of the screen and you’ll be able to add “pixies,” which are just fun graphics. You can place them anywhere on your photo and can control the sizing, opacity, and rotation. There’s also no limit to the number of pixies you can add. Along with this, you can also add text in a variety of different font faces, and colors. These of course can also be sized and rotated any way you like.

After you’ve completed your masterpiece, you have several options available. You can share them to Facebook or Twitter, email them to friends or family, save them to your camera roll for personal use, or you can actually print them to Zazzle. Zazzle is a site that lets you print your photos on unique items like t-shirts, phone cases, bags, etc.

Pixies is free to download, however there are some limitations to the app. First of all, there are over 350 pixies you can choose from, however most of these require in-app purchases. You only get the entire birthday theme for free as well as 4 graphics from each theme for free. That’s still a huge number of pixies you can use but not the full catalog of them unless you shell out some extra money. It’s $0.99 for each category or $24.99 for the entire catalog.

Even though you can’t use all the graphics unless you purchase, Pixies is still a fun app with what’s available for free. You still get a taste of each category and the app makes a handy text adding app for your photos. Overall, a good app that has quite a lot free where you wouldn’t really need to do in-apps unless you wanted to.
