This is actually pretty cool. Apple finally will be supporting game controllers for iOS. iOS7 will be the first version of the OS to officially support 3rd party controllers. In order to keep things uniform and standard, Apple has set out a list of guidelines they want developers to follow so that their games can work with any controller. Right now, there are several controllers already out on the market but they don’t work for all games. Some games support 1 controller and not others while other games will support a rival controller and not that one. It’s quite a mess right now and Apple looks to tidy things up.
As you can see from the image above, there are 2 controller specifications Apple wants developers to follow. I think this is a great idea because it means that developers only need to create games for the desired spec and they should work with whatever controller you decide to use. Hopefully this pans out as there are tons of games in the App Store that would benefit from controller support.
