Over the weekend, I finally got the Wireless Emergency Alerts update from AT&T. This updated was pushed automatically to my iPhone and only users of the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1 and higher should receive them. These are government-issued safety messages that include AMBER Alerts, emergency alerts – such as man-made or natural disasters, and Presidential alerts.

As you can see from above, you have the option of turning them off if you don’t want to receive these alerts and they are found in Settings > Notifications.
