It can be argued that the next most popular phone with aftermarket accessory makers after the iPhone is the Samsung Galaxy line of smartphones. That means if you purchased Samsung’s latest Galaxy S4, there’s a good chance you’re going to be able to find a case that suits your exact needs and style. We’ve already looked at a few cases for the Galaxy S4 and there’s plenty more out there. For instance, id America, which makes some pretty good iPhone cases, also makes Galaxy S4 cases now. In fact three, the Liquid, Mist, and Cushi Band.
id America Liquid
The first case up from id America is the Liquid. This is the same type of case we’ve seen them release for the iPhone 5 so much of what was said about that case applies to this one for the Galaxy S4. The Liquid is a 1-piece case design that is similar to many silicone cases you may have seen. The only difference is that this isn’t silicone and is instead a rigid, flexible material and unlike silicone cases, the Liquid is crystal clear. I’m assuming that the Liquid is made of TPU as that’s what it feels like.
Now there isn’t really anything too special about the Liquid except for the fact that you don’t see too many flexible cases like this that are this clear. It’s almost like glass how clear this case is which means that for those who don’t like covering up how their device looks, will love the fact that they can show off the Galaxy S4’s looks while still keeping it protected. All the cutouts are there for the ports, speakers, mic, camera, and IR blaster while the volume rocker and power button are covered with its own built in button covers. Whats nice about the Liquid too is that the case overlaps the front screen a bit and has a lay-flat design that keeps he screen elevated when face down.
The id America Liquid is available in several different colors. You can get it in Black, Blue, Clear, Purple, Red, and Yellow. It’s also very inexpensive at only $14.95 so you can possibly pick up several of these to switch out depending on your style. It even comes with a bonus screen protector.
id America Mist
The second Samsung Galaxy S4 case from id America is the Liquid. This is another case I’ve looked at in the past for the iPhone and now they’ve made it for the Galaxy S4. This case differs from the Liquid in that the Mist is a hardshell case made from what I’m assuming is polycarbonate, as most hardshell cases are made from this material. Also unlike the Liquid, the Mist is not a clear case. Instead it’s a translucent case where you can kind of see your device through it, but not in any great detail. It also does not have a glossy finish to it and instead has a matte, almost frosted like finish which is great for keeping the case fingerprint and smudge free.
Like most hardshell cases, the Mist snaps right on and provides decent protection for the rear and sides of the Galaxy S4 but not the top or bottom edges on the front side of the phone. This case also does not cover up the volume rocker or power button and has these sections opened up. People who don’t want to add any extra bulk will be happy to know that the Mist is quite thin and barely adds any thickness at all to the svelte body of the Galaxy S4.
The id America Mist is available in five different colors, black, blue, red, white, and yellow. Again, the Mist is pretty inexpensive and only costs $14.95 and also includes a screen protector.
id America Cushi Band
The last case up from id America for the Samsung Galaxy S4 is their signature Cushi Band. Again, we originally saw this for the iPhone line but now they’ve modified it for the Galaxy s4. The Cushi Band is a dual injected molded case made of PC + TPE. That means that the case is flexible, but at the same time also fairly rigid and will keep its shape better. Unlike the other 2 cases, the Cushi Band is exactly what it sounds like. It’s an outer band that is meant to only protect the outer edges of the Galaxy S4.
Basically what you do with the the Cushi Band is slip it on and it wraps around the edges of the Galaxy S4. It overlaps both the front and rear of the phone so that when placed on either the face or back, it will not touch the surface you are placing it on. The material allows for pretty good shock absorbancy when dropped on its edges while allowing for good grip as well. All the necessary cutouts are there for the ports and speakers except for the power and volume rocker. These stay protected.
The Cushi Band is a simple case for those who do not want added bulk, want to show off the rear of their device, but still want shock absorbancy for the edges when dropped. It comes in 6 different colors, black, green, orange, navy, pink, and white. The Cushi Band is even more inexpensive at only $9.95 and it too includes a screen protector.
