Sewer Escape is fun new casual game from developer WitchHut. The story behind the game is pretty far out and has you playing as one of three radioactively mutated hamsters. Al, Bert, and Kenny were once normal hamsters held by the crazy scientist, Dr. Madbrain in New York’s sewers. One day they accidentally ingest radioactive goop and wake up as super geniuses, except for Kenny who just develops a green eye. Kenny is who you’ll be playing as and you’ll need to help him escape the evil doctors lair and reach freedom in the world above.

Sewer Escape plays like an endless jumper type game. You start off by shooting Kenny out of a cannon. Keep him traveling upward by tapping on him to bounce him back up before he falls back down past the bottom of the screen. That’s mainly what you do here, just keep tapping to keep him going up. While doing that, swipe across any coins you see to collect them as you’ll need them later to buy upgrades and power-ups. These upgrades allow you to get the upper hand and get to higher distances. You can get things like upgraded cannons, power-up time increases, and even score multipliers.

When I say this game plays like an endless jumper, I mean that it will take some time before you even reach the end, if there is an end. I’ve never gotten that far so I don’t really know. You’ll traverse through 5 different zones while trying to reach freedom but I’ve only been able to get up to the 3rd.

On paper, Sewer Escape seems like it would be easy to play and ant not much challenge at all. You’d be wrong. It’s a very challenging game to play and it really keeps you on your toes. You have to pay attention every second you are playing as to not fall and while doing that, you also have to concentrate on collecting coins. It’s not easy trying to do things at once. It’s a fun game though if you’re a fan of endless runners and jumpers. There’s lots to upgrade and it’s always fun trying to get farther and farther. Overall, I’d say it’s a good buy and if anything, it is a fun game kids can play to keep them occupied.
