I love discovering new apps that my children can enjoy, whether it be an educational app or a fun little time waster that can keep them occupied while I do some work around the house. Of course not all children’s apps are created equally and it usually takes that special something to keep kids interested in the app. I’ve had apps that seemed good at first, but my kids lost interest in them almost immediately while other apps they just keep coming back to over and over again no matter how many times they’ve played them. One such game is Sago Mini Forest Flyer. It’s a simple, open world exploration app that seems to hit all the right features to keep kids coming back for more.

In Forest Flyer, you start off at Robin’s birdhouse. Ring the bell to get her to come out and play. From here, players can guide her around the forest and look for different things to do and interact with. There are over 20 different actions you can do, you just need to find them all. What makes the game interesting for children I think is the colorful artwork and animations. They are wonderfully done despite being a bit simplistic. It has a very “paper cutout” like feel to it. The game also feature a full range of sound effects and background sounds that make the environment come alive.

Now Sago Mini Forest Flyer isn’t a game in your traditional sense. There aren’t any levels to beat or scores to keep track of. Instead, kids play it to enjoy the atmosphere and enjoy the environment. Just play around and do whatever you want in an open world filled with life and activities. Adults may find the app a bit lacking, but let me tell you, my kids really enjoy playing this over and over again.
