Task – A Simple Yet Powerful Task Manager (iOS App Review)

task_iconIt’s no denying that smart phones play a huge part in our lives these days. We don’t just use them to make calls anymore. We use them to send messages, answer emails, research for information, recreation, collecting memories with photos, social networking, and organization. The last part is major because we now use smartphones to organize every part of our lives from scheduling appointments to remembering what we need to buy at the store. You can do all this with the iPhone’s included apps, but there are so many other apps out there that can do a better job. One such app is Task, which is a clean, minimalistic task manager that makes adding and completing tasks simple by using gestures.

The first thing you’ll notice about Task is how similar it looks to another app, Clear. Not only do they look similar, they also function quite similarly as well. Task however does more where as Clear really was just a list maker. Task is very minimalistic with a simple look. Items are separated in their own little rectangle and more get added as you add tasks. Task however isn’t as colorful as Clear and you only get 1 theme unless you opt to purchase more through In-Apps.

Navigating and using Task require very simple gestures. Tap in the blank area to create a new task. Tasks can be assigned both dates and time that they need to be completed and they will sound an alarm at the time set. You can also create a task by using two fingers and separating 2 tasks apart to create one in-between them. Swiping up on the task list can also create a new task but don’t swipe up too far as that will also bring up uncompleted past tasks.  If you don’t complete the task on time, a notification icon will appear on the app icon with the number of tasks not completed. To mark a task as completed, swipe the task to the right. If you want to just delete the task, swipe to the left.

It may sound a bit confusing on paper, but if you check out the video below, you’ll see just how easy it is. In fact, you can operate the whole app entirely with one hand if you wanted to.

If you’re looking for an easy to use task manager that not only functions well but also looks great, I highly suggest checking out Task. Though it has in-app purchasing, they are for extra themes that in all honesty, you don’t need to get as the default theme is decent enough. Also, as of this posting, it was free for a limited time, though that will change very soon back to its regular price.
