Halloween is fast approaching and I know some of you out there are looking for Halloween inspired games and apps for your children. Why not check out Room on the Broom Games, based on the best selling book by Julia Donaldson. In the game, you play as a good hearted Witch and her Cat who collect friends onto their magical broom. The app features 8 fun-filled games, which are ideal for 3 – 7 year olds.
I’ll start off by talking about the art work in the game. If you’re a fan of the book, you’ll be happy to know that many of the graphical elements are taken straight from illustrator Axel Scheffler art work from the book itself and adapted for the games. Navigating the app is also very simple for children as all they would have to do is swipe left or right to move between the different games and then tap on the games they want to play.
The games themselves are fairly simple to play, but since this is for little children, they can still be quite entertaining. Games range from simple connect the starts type gameplay, hide and seek, flying a broom, and other entertaining mini games. Each game played allows you to win medals. The game is created in such a way though that you have to earn medals with each play starting with bronze and working your way up to gold. This encourages children to try harder on the next turn while giving them a feeling of accomplishment when they are done.
At first, I thought this was a storybook app, but it’s not. It’s more like a companion app to the actual storybook in which you can take the witch and the cat on adventures while meeting new friends. Room on the Broom Games is just that then, games. Children will have fun playing these entertaining mini-games while adults will be happy they they have something to keep them occupied. It’s a cute little game with great illustrations and a variety of different games.
