There are a lot of casual games in the App Store, but only a few really ever catch your attention. Those that combine solid gameplay mechanics and gorgeous visuals have a better chance than others. It’s just a matter of discovering them when they come out. One such game that caught my eye is AIO Goes Home. It combines cute, colorful visuals with a physics based puzzler that is just unique enough to grab my attention. The game is about a kidnapped dragon named AIO in which you must help him escape his captors and return him home safely.
The game is basically a physics based puzzler that has you trying to escape a room while also trying to figure out how to collect each of the 3 bonus stars on each level. This is similar to the game Cut the Rope. You don’t have to get all 3 stars, but it’s an added challenge for those who want to completely finish a game. What you’re doing is basically guiding AIO, who turns into a ball, and having him bounce all over room until he can escape through a door. just point him in the direction you want him to go and he’ll continue in a straight path until he bounces off a wall. There is where the physics based portion of the game comes into play. Overall, very solid mechanics.
Graphically, the game is pretty good. Bright and colorful backgrounds that are well drawn and also feature animated backdrops. Characters are also very well drawn and cute. AIO Goes Home will definitely appeal to a broad range of players and age levels.
This version of AIO Goes Home is the free version which only includes about 20 levels. You can unlock an additional 150+ levels with an in-app purchase. As much as I don’t really like in-app purchasing, it’s okay in this case as it’s only $0.99 and unlocks every level in the game if you like it. From what I did play, it’s a rather interesting casual game that makes for a good time waster. Kids will enjoy it too as it features a really interesting character and gameplay that is very simple to pick up, even for them.
