Like many of you with a PlayStation 4 and a launch day copy of Battlefield for that had the pre-order bonus code for China Rising, I had no idea how to download the expansion pack after it was released 2-days ago on the 17th. It was not an automatic download and clicking the online store in the game only yielded an option to buy it again for $14.99. I tried numerous times to contact EA/Dice via their @Battlefield twitter account but they never answered me back. There was no way I was going to pay for something that I should have for free.

After 2-days of searching around, I finally found a solution from a user “atlantageorgia” on the Battlefield forums. The solution is as follows:

1. Go to the PSN Store and hit triangle to take you to the search bar.
2. Type in “battlefield 4”.
3. Select the game and then select the add-on category. China Rising will be one of the options.
4. Click China Rising. From there, on the left hand side, click “choose version” and from the drop down menu that appears, click “free” option.
5. Once you click on this, the China Rising expansion should automatically start downloading.

Now tell me that that’s not the most confusing thing ever to download an expansion that should have been automatically downloaded once it went live. Whatever the case, I’m happy now that it’s finally downloading, but pissed that EA gave no instructions on how to download it in the first place.
