Yahoo Digest is the latest news delivery app from Yahoo! Unlike other news apps though, this one is meant to only deliver need-to-know news, twice a day, in an easy to read summarized story. That means that it will deliver news to you once in the morning, and once in the evening of only the top news articles it thinks you need to know about. You’ll get 8 top articles in the morning and 8 top articles in the evening. With a very clean and easy to read interface, Yahoo Digest makes it very easy to stay on top of the day’s most relevant news.
This is probably the simplest news app you could possible use. There’s nothing to set in it. Just download and begin using. It grabs the top 8 news summaries twice a day and give you a 2-3 paragraph highlight of what each story is about. Each story also contains relative links to other story posts, videos, tweets, etc. that will help you understand the post more if you want to get more in-depth. The app will also tell you how many of the 8-stories you’ve read and if you want more, you can simply pull the page past the end and it will load up extra stories.
As simple as this app is, I wish there was a bit more customization. For instance, I wish I could choose the topics I wanted delivered to me instead of having it deliver a mishmash of things. I don’t really care about news related to sports and would love to remove that and instead have topics I care more about show up more often. Other than that, it’s a great app to get a broad range of news in any given day that you might not have read otherwise.
If you’re one who doesn’t have time to check out the news each day, but still want to know what’s going on in the world, Yahoo Digest just might be the app for you. News stories are concise and to the point giving you exactly the points you need to know about with the option of reading more if you want. It’s a good first release but I’d like to see the ability to choose the topics you want to know more about. Other than that, this would be a fantastic addition on anyone’s phone who just want to quickly know what’s going on in the world.
