Fun Adventure is an adventure/puzzle game for very small children. It’s a cute game about friendship and adventure. The story is pretty simple but sets the stage for the game. Basically a pair of kittens were playing and enjoying their time when all of a sudden, a vicious dog came along and kidnapped one of them. You play as the one who got away and must now save your friend from the dog.

The premise for the game seems simple enough with the overall gameplay really based on trying to get from one end of a level to the other end. This is a simple game so for the most part, all your kids will need to do is get the kitten from one end of the level to the other end while collecting stars, moving obstacles, and avoiding enemy dogs. It all sounds simple enough but the control scheme for the game makes it a lot harder to play than is should be. Controls are tapped based except that you never really exactly know where you’re supposed to tap. There is no tutorial so you are left guessing what you’re supposed to be doing. At the beginning, I did not know if I was supposed to be swiping, tapping, or holding down an area to get my kitten to move. I eventually found out that you have to tap in very specific spots on each level to get your kitten to move. Once you figure that out, it gets a bit easier to guess we’re you should be tapping, but it’s not very intuitive and can be frustrating.

Graphically, the game actually looks pretty good with bright, colorful artwork and rather cute character designs.

Fun Adventure could have a great kids game that introduces them to what is really a simple platformer. Platform games are a staple of gaming and this could have been a good one if not for the wonky controls. It’s not terribly bad, but it could be much better. Most specifically, I would definitely add a tutorial to the game to teach young players how to actually play it. Also there is an option to load a game, but you have to enter some unknown password and I honestly don’t know why that is even in there if you can’t save a game you’re playing. It’s little quirks like this that make the game a lot less enjoyable than it really could be. On the plus side, the game is free.
