Super Monkey Ball has been a fairly popular franchise on iOS and it has been around for quite some time. The latest entry in the Super Monkey Ball franchise is completely different from all the previous games. Where as the previous games were all motion based games that had you navigating through maze like levels, Super Monkey Ball Bounce is a more laid back game with pachinko-inspired gameplay. You basically just aim, shoot, and try to clear out specific targets to win the round.
The object of the game is pretty simple. You’re up top and need to aim a small marble at pins and blocks in order to remove them from the play area. The goal though is to remove specific ones in order to clear the stage. Along the way you collect bananas, and bonus items in order to increase your score multiplier. The higher your score, the more stars you gain at the end of the round. What that means is that not only is there the primary goal of clearing the area, there’s also the secondary goal of gaining stars.
As you progress, you’ll gain new characters you can use, each of them have their own special abilities that you can use during the game. For instance, some characters make the ball bounce more or allow you to aim better. It adds to depth and strategy to the game in which some characters are better suited than others.
Graphically, it’s a beautiful game. Like all the previous Super Monkey Ball games, the graphics are colorful, fun, and cute. This will definitely appeal to players of all ages, especially kids who should like how playful everything is.
If you’re still with me here and even checked out the trailer, you’re probably thinking to yourself, “that looks a lot like Peggle.” Well it is a lot like Peggle. If it weren’t for the Super Monkey Ball characters and the slightly different artwork, I would almost think this was Peggle. That being said, Peggle is an amazing game so if you’re going to take some inspiration from a game, that’s not a bad place to start. Super Monkey Ball Bounce is a solid, pachinko style game that is fun and full of character. Not only that, it’s free. Yes it has ads, but it doesn’t get in the way of the gameplay nor diminish its fun. This is a game that players of all ages can play and enjoy.
