Maono PD200X Podcasting Microphone Review

Maono PD200X

If you are a streamer, gamer, content creator, or anyone who needs a mic for chat audio, you might already know that the built-in mic on most devices is garbage. I’m sure most of you don’t even bother to use them and instead, you probably have your own headset with a built-in mic that is much better. However, what if you don’t want to wear a headset and use speakers and want a mic you don’t have to wear? You get an actual microphone, one that is versatile enough to use for all types of activities. The Maono PD200X fits the bill for this and is a USB/XLR dynamic microphone built for podcasting, streaming, and gaming.

The Maono PD200X comes from a company that is touted as the “global best-selling internet microphone brand”. Whether or not this is true, I’m not even going to try researching this, but what I can say is that the build quality on this Maono PD200X is pretty good and it includes a wide feature set.

Maono PD200X

The Maono PD200X boasts a modern and sleek design that adds a touch of professionalism to my streaming setup. The all-metal construction feels sturdy and durable, ensuring it can withstand the rigors of regular use. The built-in anti-shock and anti-pop mount around the mic is a neat design element that efficiently reduces unwanted vibrations and handling noise, resulting in a smoother audio output. There’s also a stand adaptor for use with the optional scissor arm stand for even more flexibility.

In terms of connectivity, the PD200X offers versatility with its connection options. It can be connected to your computer via USB or XLR, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced users. The plug-and-play USB connection is perfect for those starting out in streaming, while the XLR option allows for more advanced setups and connections to audio interfaces or mixers. We only used the USB-C connection here for our tests.

Another standout feature of the Maono PD200X is its integrated 3.5mm headphone jack. This allows you to monitor audio in real time, enabling you to make on-the-fly adjustments to ensure optimal sound quality. The convenient volume control on the microphone itself allows for easy adjustments, saving the hassle of adjusting levels through software settings.

Speaking of which, the Maono PD200X is compatible with the Maono-link software. With it, you can choose the perfect tone from your microphone, and you can turn on/off the RGB light or switch between 9 different colors. It also supports EQ, limiter, and compressor adjustment in USB mode.

When it comes to sound quality, the Maono PD200X excels. The built-in high-quality condenser capsule captures crisp and rich audio, significantly enhancing the clarity of my voice. Whether I’m streaming games, conducting interviews, or recording podcasts, the microphone delivers professional-grade audio that rivals more expensive options. The cardioid polar pattern effectively isolates my voice from background noise, eliminating distractions and ensuring a focused audio recording.

I’ve tested it out with friends over Discord, as well as in team meetings on Zoom and Slack, and I haven’t had any complaints so far about any background noises or my voice sounding bad. Most really like the sound of the PD200X which is great because that’s mostly what I use my mic for.

Its impressive sound quality, durable build, and versatile connectivity options make it a top-notch choice for streamers, podcasters, voice actors, and content creators of all levels. Considering its exceptional performance and robust build quality, the Maono PD200X is an absolute steal for its price. It offers a level of performance and features that you would typically find in much more expensive microphones.

If you’re looking for an affordable yet high-performing streaming microphone, the Maono PD200X should be at the top of your list. I highly recommend it without hesitation.
