These days, most people are rocking a smartwatch, whether an Apple Watch, Android-based, or a fitness/health tracker with a clock. That doesn’t mean there isn’t a place for a good old-fashioned watch in your collection. I actually really still love regular watches because there’s more variety in designs and in my opinion, they look better than most smartwatches out there. So with that said, I’m taking a look at the Armitron Metro, a gold-toned rectangle case watch with a black band and black face that features an analog and digital clock.

DESIGN
The Armitron Metro is made from stainless steel and features an all-metal construction. I’m usually not a fan of gold, but this watch looks pretty good, especially when combined with the black. Anyways, the case itself features a transparent black face where you can see the mechanical movement inside. The hands of the watch are gold as are the minute markers on the face.
Moving down, you’ll see the digital clock that shares the case space. It’s here because the Armitron Metro includes a date and alarm feature, which is part of the digital clock. Not only that, the digital clock is a backlit LED display that lets you view the time when it’s dark since the analog clock doesn’t glow.
Lastly, the 33mm stainless steel mesh band has a fold-over buckle closure that is simple to use one-handed. The strap seems durable and should hold up over time.
EXPERIENCE
The Armitron Metro has some nice weight to it. It doesn’t feel like a cheap watch at all and feels like a quality timepiece. I like the addition of the buttons that are used for the digital clock in combination with the analog crown. It is a little weird though that you need to set the seconds hands on the analog clock and the digital clock separate from each other however.
In terms of style, it’s a very handsome-looking watch. The casing in my opinion looks great, though I wish it were a tad bit larger as the watch looks a bit small on my wrist.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I’m still a huge fan of traditional watches. That’s probably why most days, the watch I wear is an analog watch that happens to have health-tracking features on it. However, I still love regular watches that only tell time. There’s something simple and elegant about them where they literally only have one job to do and that’s to tell time. In terms of the Armitron Metro, it does a great job at that while looking really good in the process.
