The new iOttie Velox Mini Qi2 is the company’s latest in-car wireless charging solution utilizing Qi2 technology, MagSage compatibility, and up to 15W of charging power. This is an air vent phone holder that will require either an iPhone with MagSafe or a phone utilizing MagSafe compatible cases.
iOttie has no shortage of phone mounts for your vehicle. In fact, they have a wide range of different styles and mount types to satisfy any type of vehicle. This iOttie Velox Mini Qi2 though is made for very specific devices and it is only mountable using the air vent. As stated above, you need a current iPhone series that supports MagSafe out of the box or at least have a device with a MagSafe-compatible case. This includes Android devices utilizing these cases. An easy way to tell is if your case has a large ring at the center of it.
The iOttie Velox Mini Qi2 doesn’t require any special installation instructions. Just slide it onto any of your air vents little slots and it will grab hold of it. The charging cable is also permanently attached to it so there’s no way of losing it. It does need to be plugged into a USB-C car charging plug but luckily, it comes with one in the package. Once plugged in, you’re ready to go.
Your phone will magnetically attach to it and begin charging. What’s good is that the speeds are fairly decent seeing that this delivers up to 15W of power. You’ll also appreciate the inclusion of ventilation holes in the back for extra cooling while charging.
Overall the iOttie Velox Mini Qi2 is another solid product. While it doesn’t have any of the smart assistant integration like some of their other mounts, this is great for those who don’t need that type of integration and just want a solid charger that works with MagSafe.
