NEXAR introduced their most powerful and advanced dash cam this year with the NEXAR One. The NEXAR One is a smart connected dash cam featuring 4K video captures, remote streaming capabilities, emergency alerts, and integrated parking modes.

DESIGN
The NEXAR One has a rather interesting design that differs from many of the other dash cams on the market right now. The unit consists of a magnetic mount that is attached to your windshield, which is also where power is connected. The main unit is then attached to that via strong magnets.
The main unit consists of a 4K camera and speakers. There’s nothing else on it except for one main button. There’s no display and no SD card slot. For storage, NEXAR went with integrated storage instead and you’ll need to choose how much storage you want when purchasing it. Your options are 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, and 512 GB.
With the NEXAR One Pro kit, you also get two attachments, the Connectivity add-on and the Interior-facing Camera add-on. On the main unit, you need to remove the magnetic caps on the left and right. The Connectivity add-on attaches to one side while the Interior-facing Camera attaches to the other. Both attach very securely and the Interior-facing Camera add-on can swivel to adjust capture angles.
With all the add-ons connected, the NEXAR One Pro turns into a rather large dash cam, the largest dash cam I’ve ever seen. This might put some people who want something smaller and easier to hide, which the NEXAR One Pro you cannot. There’s no real good way to hide something like this so you’ll just need to find a spot on your windshield that is out of the way and won’t obstruct your view.
Speaking of which, installation is simple. The kit we received here included an OBD kit that plugs into your vehicle’s ODB-II port as well as installation tools and cable management clips.

SPECS
A quick rundown of the specs which include a 140-degree 4K front-facing camera utilizing a Sony Starvis sensor, a 160-degree 720p interior camera also utilizing a Sony Starvis sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, LTE CAT4 cellular, and works with Siri commands.
I will point out that connectivity features require a NEXAR Connect subscription. This is needed for live remote viewing, cloud saves, live parking mode, emergency alerts, and vehicle tracking. ($9.99/month).

EXPERIENCE
While I did mention that some may want to install this somewhere out of the way, the best place to still install a dash cam is right in the middle of your windshield, whether it be at the top, middle, or bottom. Dash cam footage normally looks better when the camera is centered on your vehicle.
Like most dash cams, once you install the NEXAR One Pro and have everything set up, which includes downloading the NEXAR app, you won’t need to really touch the hardware again with most features being automatic. Recording happens automatically, and when any incidents are detected, automatically secured and sent to your phone and to the cloud. If you have a NEXAR Connect subscription, you’ll get notifications of these events in real-time.
Being a 4K camera up front, the video the NEXAR One Pro captures is very good with lots of detail. The videos are normally pretty bright and even nighttime scenes look great. At this point though, most dash cams use pretty much the same sensors now to capture video so there really isn’t going to be much divergence from one dash cam to another. What differentiates most dash cams these days are the features they include and the NEXAR One Pro has a good feature set.
What might you not like about the NEXAR One Pro? I mentioned that the combined unit is quite large, the largest dash cam I have ever seen. Also, for such a large unit, why isn’t there a display screen to quickly access any saved videos without having to pull out my phone? Lastly, I’m not a big fan of the fixed internal storage. It means you can’t expand the storage later down the line if you feel like you purchased a storage option that was too small.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Despite the fact that the NEXAR One Pro is rather large and missing some quality-of-life features like a built-in display, this is still one of NEXAR’s best and most advanced dash cams to date. The NEXAR One Pro has many of the features you want in a good dash cam. You will love the video quality and all the connected features if you intend to subscribe to NEXAR Connect. Without the subscription, you’ll be missing out on some of the dash cam’s highlights so it all depends on whether or not you want to shell out for a monthly subscription fee to make the most out of everything the NEXAR One Pro has to offer.
