Skullcandy makes a lot of headphones and earbuds and what I mean by that is that they have a ton of different styles that will suit almost any need you have. I never really used them before, however, I had a chance to review the Skullcandy EcoBuds and I was quite impressed with the sound quality, and unique charging case. The next set I’m checking out is the Skullcandy Dime 3 which is just as unique with a charging case that has a built-in lanyard and Tile finding technology.

DESIGN
What caught my eye about the Skullcandy Dime 3 was its small size and built-attachment strap. Most earbuds with a case you need to carry around in your pocket or throw in your bag, but the Dime 3 case lets you attach it to your keyring, a carabiner, or even a lanyard. That means you can keep these with you at all times without worrying about misplacing them.
The lid of the case actually snaps shut and stays secure so the earbuds don’t fall out. The earbuds are still magnetically attached to the case, but the locking top is just an extra precaution to keep from losing them. I also like how the top of the earbuds show through so you can also see if they are charging or not.
The earbuds themselves are pretty compact, but they fit really well in my ear canals. They seal up quite nicely and seem to offer some great passive noise canceling. The package includes extra ear gels in different sizes but the ones that came already installed were just fine.
Lastly, the Skullcandy Dime 3 also comes in some really fun colors, though I opted for the black ones with the orange strap.

FEATURES
The Skullcandy Dime 3 has a lot of desirable features in such a small package. Playtime is about 8 hours per earbud while the charging case provides another 12 hours of playtime. If you happen to run out of charge, a quick 10-minute charge will net you 2 hours of playtime.
You also get touch-based controls, stay-aware mode, sidetone, preset EQ modes, and a clear voice smart mic. There’s also multipoint pairing so you can connect to two devices at once.
However, the neatest feature I think is the built-in Tile finding technology. If you download the Tile app to your phone, you’ll be able to locate the Skullcandy Dime 3 if you lose them. It’ll show an approximate location of where they might be and also emit an audible sound so you can find them.
EXPERIENCE
For the price, the Skullcandy Dime 3 offers so much. I appreciate the small size of the case and the built-in lanyard that makes it extremely easy to carry around with you. The USB-C charging port is also here to make charging a breeze and as mentioned above, the inclusion of Tile technology is a first for me on a product that I didn’t buy from Tile.
While not necessary, you will need to download the Tile app if you wish to use the location-finding features.
In terms of sound, they sound great. There’s a decent amount of both lows and highs and thanks to the fitment and shape of these earbuds, they do provide a good amount of noise isolation. The fitment also makes them super comfortable, especially for long periods of time.
Lastly, I like that these do not have to be used as pairs. Meaning you can use just one earbud at a time and they don’t just disconnect if you take one off or decide to share one with a friend.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I was actually pleasantly surprised with the Skullcandy Dime 3. Mainly because of how good they are and how inexpensive they are for the features they have. These sound great, have features that would normally be included with higher-end earbuds, and the inclusion of Tile finding technology is amazing. I love the inclusion of the built-in lanyard and the small size of the overall package makes the Skullcandy Dime 3 a breeze to carry around .
So with that said, Skullcandy is really starting to impress me with their earbud lineup and they can differentiate a product to stand out in what is otherwise a crowded market.
