The James Brand, based in Portland, Oregon, makes knives and tools with an emphasis on minimalist design aesthetics, premium materials, and attention to detail. This can be seen in all the products they make, including their latest everyday carry tool, the Warrick. The Warrick is one of the most needed tools you should have with you, and that’s a screwdriver. Most aren’t easily carried, but the Warrick fits in your pocket, includes four of the most popular screwdriver bits, and is built to last.

The most fascinating thing about the Warrick is its design. James Brand was able to make this tool very compact, portable, and usable. The shape reminds me a bit of a fat crayon, but it is made of anodized aluminum instead of wax.

To access the screwdriver bits, simply pull the top upwards, revealing a drawer with four standard bits. Two Phillips head bits and two slotted bits are kept securely in place with magnets. The drawer itself is secured in the case due to the torque drawer design, and the contents inside are kept safe from the elements with a waterproof rubber gasket.

Using the Warrick is as simple as taking out one of the bits and inserting it into the magnetized bit receiver. What I like is that the Warrick isn’t shaped like a cylinder. Two sides are flat, so when you hold it in your hands, you get more grip to turn the screwdriver. With a tool this small, that helps a lot as I’ve used other smaller traditional screwdrivers, and it’s hard to get a good grip when they’re round.

As an everyday carry, the Warrick by the James Brand is absolutely a must in my book. It looks fantastic, fits in your pocket without taking up much space, and is 100% functional. You also aren’t limited to what screwdriver bits you carry, as you can swap the included ones with other sizes if needed. The Warrick is a beautiful piece and one that I’ve added to my daily everyday carries.
