Most of my gaming these days is done on a PC. While many prefer gaming with a mouse and keyboard on a PC, I still like most of my gaming with a controller. That’s because I grew up playing on gaming consoles, and no matter how much I try, I’m just not good with a mouse and keyboard. So, what kind of controller do I use? I use Xbox-style controllers because they offer the most comfortable shape and layout, and one of my favorites has always been the PowerA Fusion lineup. Their latest is the PowerA Fusion Pro 4, a wired controller featuring game-winning specs.

DESIGN
The design of the PowerA Fusion Pro 4 hasn’t changed much from previous iterations of the controller; it’s only fine-tuned. There’s no reason to change an almost near-perfect, comfortable shape, so the most you can do is fine-tune the materials, finish, and feel of the controller, and I must say, this feels really good.
For starters, the texture’s rubber grips feel great. They aren’t super rubbery where it feels squishy, and the textures add tactile grip. I also like how the texture elements are tiny PowerA logos. I should note that the back buttons are also textured the same way for consistency.
Next, the controller is actually all black. Previous versions were kinda black, but the rubber grips had a weird greenish hue to them. These look so much better being all black.
The triggers and bumpers have a solid feel to them. The bumpers make a nice clicky noise, while the triggers feel really smooth. These are also textured with tiny PowerA logos.

SPECS
So, what makes the Fusion Pro 4 a winner? For starters, it’s a wired controller, which means there’s almost zero latency. This is also the first controller in the Fusion lineup to feature Hall Effect Effect sticks and triggers. That means you no longer need to worry about stick drift when gaming. Not only that, the Hall Effect sensors are more precise and last longer.
Other notable specs include 3-way trigger locks, 4 mappable buttons on the rear that can be programmed on the fly, textured rubber grips, dual rumble motors and impulse triggers, integrated headset dial with mute, and a 10-foot long braided USB-C cable.
One exciting feature that needed to be pointed out on its own is the Quick-Twist Thumbsticks. I’ve never seen this on any other controller before, and it basically negates the need for swappable thumbsticks. Instead, you can adjust each stick by twisting them, allowing you to change the height into 1-of-3 lengths. This removed a lot of the packaging bulk from previous Fusion controllers since there isn’t a need now for extra sticks, but we also lose the ability to swap out the face plate. I think it’s a fair tradeoff.

EXPERIENCE
My go to controller before this was a Gamesir G7 SE. While I enjoyed the the PowerA Fusion lineup back in the days, they didn’t have Hall Effect sticks or triggers. Now that the Power Fusion Pro 4 does, it’s my main. This is because it has all the advanced features I want, as well as four programmable back buttons, the new Quick-Twist Thumbsticks, and trigger locks. This makes it one of the most feature rich controllers without the high prices of those other custom pro controllers.
I also quite enjoy the PowerA Gamer HQ app for PC. This lets you customize and fine-tune various aspects of the controller, such as deadzones, vibration settings, audio settings, calibration, and more. While it’s not needed for on the fly button remapping, it is a helpful app for fine tuning.
Once I had the PowerA Fusion Pro 4 set up exactly how I wanted it, the rest was history. The controls are precise and quick, while the controller felt great in my hands. The weight makes it feel solid but still super comfortable to hold.

FINAL THOUGHTS
PowerA is back with one of the best pro-level, customizable controllers out there with the PowerA Fusion Pro 4. This has everything a player wants in a controller at an affordable price. This is slightly more expensive than a stock Xbox controller and way cheaper than the Elite controller, but I’d choose this one any day of the week for what it does. PowerA created a winner here with the latest Fusion Pro 4.
I should note that this only works on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
