OxyZen Meditation Headband Powered by BrainCo Review

OxyZen

For those interested in high-tech meditation to relieve stress, calm the nerves, and increase the quality of your sleep, there’s the BrainCo OxyZen. This product uses cutting-edge brain-computer interface (BCI) technology, integrating EEG detection and PPG pulse oximetry sensing, to be one of the most advanced meditation headbands on the market.

OxyZen

DESIGN

The OxyZen is a two-piece smart headband that includes the main unit with sensors and the interchangeable headband. If you want to change the look of the OxyZen, you can swap the band for ones in different colors and a slimmer elastic headband.

The main module is padded, as is the rest of the headband, and is very comfortable when worn. It’s a very good design and doesn’t look at all odd when in use.

SPECS

The specs on the OxyZen are actually pretty impressive. It has EEG detection, PPG pulse oximetry sensors, and Neuro-mindfulness technology for real-time sensors for heart rate, brain activity, breath, and sleep monitoring.

SOFTWARE

As good as the hardware is, it’s the software that brings it all together. The app is called Zentopia, and it’s what the OxyZen uses to track stats and what you’ll use to begin your journey into meditation.

The app features several different meditation programs. For instance, programs to reduce stress, enhance focus, increase happiness, improve sleep, etc. Each features a set of breathing exercises meant to relax and stabilize your mood. While doing so, the app pulls in data from the OxyZen and measures your state of relaxation.

Like other meditation-style apps, Zentopia plays sounds of nature and calming music to put your mind at rest. I would recommend using earphones or earbuds while using the app for better audio quality.

I should point out that the OxyZen will still take readings, even when not starting a meditation program, so it will grab readings even if you’re doing other activities.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The OxyZen meditation headband is surely a unique product. I don’t think I’ve seen any other smart headbands like this that are specifically geared towards meditation and mental health. What I like about the hardware is that the main unit is detachable which means that when the headband wears out, you can swap for a new one. Not only that, there seems to be different headbands and colors you can choose from.

While the hardware is solid, it’s the software that does all the work, and for the most part, the app is quite good. I haven’t really used other meditation apps before, but the Zentopia one seems pretty solid with lots of different meditation programs you can follow along with.

The OxyZen by BrainCo will be available soon as part of this Indiegogo campaign.
