I’ve never been a fan of shiny screen protectors for my phones. This includes those fancy glass ones. That’s because I’ve always hated the extra glare and reflections from them. That doesn’t mean I don’t run screen protectors for my phones because I do. It’s just that my preferred protectors of choice had usually been matte ones, but they’re not always available for my phones. That’s not the case with the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Thanks to the flat screen, there are plenty of matte screen protectors available, so after some research, I went with the ArmorSuit Paper-Feel Matte Screen Protector.
The ArmorSuit Matte Screen Protector is an anti-glare protector meant to be scratch-proof, smudge-proof, reduce reflections, and improve visibility in bright environments. The material is also said to be self-healing against minor scratches.
While the installation wasn’t complicated, it’s not as simple as some of the newer protectors out on the market, which include installation kits that make centering a breeze. Instead, you’ll need to use the included installation spray and squeegee to align everything. That means using the spray to spray down your hands, the phone screen, and the screen protector. Align the protector where you want it to be and use the squeegee to push all the water out from under the protector. This is the old-school method of installing screen protectors, but it still works.
Once on, I noticed an immediate improvement, at least for me. Gone were the glare and reflections. The display looked paper-like as if my screen had turned into moving magazine pages. Gone were the fingerprints and smudges from the oils in my fingers. Lastly, the feel of the matte screen protector is so smooth and my fingers glide across the screen with almost no friction. Lastly, the fingerprint reader on my phone still worked flawlessly.
So, should you pick up the ArmorSuit Paper-Feel Matte Screen Protector for your Galaxy S24 Ultra? The entirely depends on you. While I love it on my phone, you may not. It does make your screen look a lot different than stock, but I’d say for anyone who has never tried a matte screen protector to give it a try. You may actually like it. AS for me, I’m honestly never going back to a shiny protector again as long as a matter one exists for my phones.
