GUNNAR Campbell and Fremont Blue Light Glasses Review

GUNNAR

GUNNAR Optiks is well known amongst gamers and those serious about their eye health as one of the premier makers of blue-light-blocking glasses that reduce digital eye strain. We’ve looked at several of their more popular styles and have been impressed with their level of quality, fit, and finish. That’s not going to change, even with their latest releases, the GUNNAR Fremont and Campbell. These two styles are very similar, with the only difference being their frame shape and width.

The GUNNER Fremont and GUNNAR Campbell look different from the front, but once you inspect both glasses side by side, you start to see a lot of the same elements that are shared between the two. Mainly, the temples are the same in both designs. The temples feature metal construction, flexible spring hinges, and handmade acetate tips. The tips are adjustable for comfort, and both frame come in Onyx, which is a matte black color.

Now for the differences between the Fremont and the Campbell. The Fremont has a rectangular-shaped frame, while the Campbell is more circular. The Fremont looks more traditional, while the Campbell has a more interesting frame design with multiple elements. The nose bridge design on the Campbell is especially interesting. Both have adjustable nose pads, and have optical quality rim locks if you ever wanted to swap out lenses.

In terms of the lenses, both can be had in either Amber or Clear Pro. Clear Pro only blocks about 20% of blue light, whereas the Amber blocks 65%. You would choose your lens based on your needs.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Which pair of glasses do I prefer? I do like the look of the GUNNAR Campbell, but they are too narrow for my face. The GUNNAR Fremont fits much better and is more comfortable for me. It’s just a wider frame, and the temples don’t feel like they’re pinching my face. In terms of lenses, the amber is great for everyday use and if you sit in front of a computer all day, however, the clear lenses are better those those who work a lot of photographs or are in graphic design. They don’t distort color like the amber lenses do.

In the end, both frames are fantastic and are another great addition to GUNNAR’s line up.
