SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3X Wireless Review

SteelSeries, known for its award-winning gaming headsets and PC gaming accessories, has released the latest in its Arctis Nova family with the introduction of the Arctis Nova 3 Wireless. Specifically, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3X Wireless isn’t just another gaming headset; it’s a game-changer for entry-level wireless audio. At just $109.99, it delivers premium features typically reserved for high-end models, making immersive sound more accessible than ever. With dual wireless connectivity, 40-hour battery life, and precision-tuned neodymium drivers, this headset punches far above its price point, ensuring you hear every detail and moment exactly as it was meant to be experienced.

DESIGN

Like the other headsets in the Arctis Nova lineup, the Arctis Nova 3X Wireless has pretty much the same look and design. It has more in common with the Arctis Nova 5X than with the Arctis Nova 7 and Pro line, but it still has minor differences. The main difference is the inclusion of a removable mic instead of the retractable mic. This diverges heavily from the rest of the Arctis Nova line. Definitely not as convenient as a retractable mic, but I’m guessing that was a cost-cutting effort to keep the price low. Still a decent mic, being a ClearCast 2.X Mic with high bandwidth tech that takes voice quality to the next level – 2X the bandwidth, 2X the comms with 32KHz/16bit audio.

Next, the Arctis Nova 3X Wireless also comes in some rather interesting colors that I have not seen before in the Arctis Nova line, mainly the Aqua and Lavender colors. These are regular colors and not part of some limited edition packaging. We chose to take a look at the Lavender edition since it was something different.

In terms of comfort, these we only 260G and feature durable, dual-hinges for a more precise fit. The Arctis Nova 3X Wireless also features a stretchy secondary fabric headband to distribute pressure more evenly for superior comfort. Adding to that are the removable ear cushions made of breathable memory foam.

COMPANION APP

The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3X Wireless also integrates with SteelSeries Arctis Companion app on mobile. This app is mainly used for enabling on the fly audio preset for over 200+ games. Each audio profile is meticulously crafted and custom-tailored to each game by audio engineers, esports Pros, and game developers. Presets are included for games such as Call of Duty, Fortnite, Apex, and more.

You can also use the app to adjust mic settings and choose presets for music. What’s neat is that you can set different presets for the 2.4GHz connection and the Bluetooth connection independent of each other.

EXPERIENCE

There’s much to like about the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3X Wireless, especially at its price point. The companion app makes it so easy to select audio profiles on the fly without needing to connect the headset to a computer. It’s also super easy to swap between the 2.4GHZ connection and Bluetooth with just a touch of a button on the headset.

The 2.4GHZ dongle makes it easy to attach to any platform such as Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, as well as anything else that supports USB-C.

The audio however, is what you’ll be interested in and the Arctis Nova 3X Wireless sound fantastic. They feature powerful Neodymium Magnetic speaker drivers customized in-house to provide the ultimate gaming audio. Hear rich bass and clear highs with a unique custom design for maximum detail. They’re also compatible with Tempest 3D Audio for PS5 and Microsoft Spatial Sound.

Since these are wireless, you get all-day gaming performance from a single charge. Get 30+ hours in 2.4G mode and 40+ hours in Bluetooth mode. When you run out of charge, a quick 15-minute charge will give you about 9 hours of additional use.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Overall, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3X Wireless delivers impressive performance and features at an entry-level price. Its dual wireless connectivity, 40-hour battery life, and powerful neodymium drivers provide rich, immersive audio that rivals more expensive headsets. The companion app adds convenient on-the-fly audio customization for over 200 games, while the ClearCast 2.X mic ensures clear communication. With its lightweight design, unique color options, and broad platform compatibility, the Arctis Nova 3X Wireless is a fantastic value for gamers seeking premium wireless audio without the premium price.
