OpenRock X Open-Ear Earbuds Review

The OpenRock X is the latest entry in the growing line of products known as open-ear earbuds. If you don’t know what these are, these are earbuds that don’t plug into your ear canal. While other brands have similar products, the OpenRock X is the only open-ear earbuds I know of that is adjustable for fit and comfort.

Let’s start by saying that OpenRock is a brand I had never heard of before. The only reason I’m even reviewing these is because they reached out to me to check them out. They looked interesting enough so that’s how we got here.

Anyways, upon first arrival, I noted that the packaging it came in was really good and gave it that upscale, quality feel. Everything came well protected, and you’d be hard-pressed to find even a scratch on the case or earbuds because of the packaging.

The actual earbuds are also packaged nicely. The case is made of metal and when you press down on the bottom, the earbuds slide out of a tray, which is pretty cool looking and definitely a design I’ve never seen anyone else do before. It does make the case look a bit large, but it’s one of the nicest cases I’ve seen for earbuds. There’s even a little metal ring you can attach so you can clip this to your back or pant’s loop.

The OpenRock X is equally as impressive looking. They are made of plastic, but the matte white finish makes them look really good. The ear hook portion seems to be coated in a soft-touch material, and the hinge hardware is all metal. At first, the adjustments feel a bit weird, because you don’t know exactly how they should fit. But after some trial and error, I found a setting that seemed to fit well and stay on my ear without falling off.

Aside from the look, the OpenRock X prides itself on its sound quality. It features 14.2mm dynamic drivers with a BaseDirect Bass cavity and utilizes LISO 2.0 algorithms and HiFi 5 DSP with spacial sound for crystal clear sounds. There are also 4 mics to power the AI noise cancellation to remove background noises for clear audio.

In terms of actual sound quality, these sound really good. Once you have the fit adjusted, they sound just as good as regular earbuds, if not better. The better comes from the added bass boost and crisp vocals. The audio is so clear despite the fact that the open-ear design still lets me hear what’s going on around me. I prefer this because it means people can’t sneak up on me while I’m listening to music

The OpenRock X can last for about 12 hours between charges, with a total of 48 hours of use with the charging case. USB-C is standard as the charging method of choice. There is an optional app you can also download that is used to update the firmware and fine-tune the audio experience. You can also use it to find your earbuds if you misplaced them somewhere why emitting a high pitched sound from them.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I’ve tried other open-ear earbuds before, and the OpenRock X is the best one so far. The main reason for that is not only the sound quality, but also the adjustability of fit and comfort. This makes it the ultimate combo and perfect for any user. Aside from that, you’ll be surprised by the quality from a brand you’ve probably never heard of.
