Great news for PlayStation 3 owners out there. Netflix today announced that for those who use their PlayStation 3 to instantly stream Netflix, you will no longer be required to insert the Netflix disc starting next week. They are finally eliminating the disc from the PlayStation 3! Along with the new disc-less streaming, Netflix will also see a new user interface that is much faster than the current one. The new Netflix will also see streaming at 1080i and support Dolby 5.1 channel surround sound!
I’m actually quite excited for this news as I’ve switched recently from the Xbox 360 to my PlayStation 3 for all my Netflix streaming.

Having 2 PS3’s makes it rather annoying with the current Netflix situation. This should help tremendously. Also I won’t have to keep swapping out discs between gaming and Netflix-ing?
You and me both. It also got annoying because the Netflix disc only came in a cheap paper sleeve.
